Blue and green challenge

Hi there!

It’s been a while since I played along with the Merry Monday challenge! This week was a colour challenge – blue/green/white or silver or vellum. I always find blue and green rather difficult to use. Not sure why, I just do! So I decided I should play along this week!

I used a cute die from Poppystamps – but once I’d cut the card, I realised the glitter snowman just didn’t stand out enough against the regular whit card stock, so I added a little bit of distress ink to define him a little more. I love how glittery this card is!

Merry Bauble Tree

Happy Saturday everyone!

I’m spending the day in my craft room, making my Christmas cards! I am determined to get them done before the last posting date….

For this card, I used some glitter cardstock from DCWV and dies from Poppystamps and Savvy Stamps. I stuck the tree onto a vellum base before adhering it to a panel made from a piece of Bazzill Bling cardstock.

I’m entering this into the current Casology challenge (round) and also the Color Throwdown challenge (black, white, gold, grey).

Friday Fireworks

Happy Friyay people!

I’m very late with my entry for the Less is More challenge, but I should just scrape in before it closes.

It’s a colour challenge and the cue word is ‘fireworks’. I decided to use a fabulous Taylored Expressions embossing folder and then add some stickles and Tonic Nuvo drops to highlight a few fireworks.

I added a sentiment from Poppystamps to complete this super simple card – it’s actually cut from glitter paper but you can’t see that in the photo unfortunately!

Feline Spooky!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

I just had to create a Halloween card today – I have so many cute stamps I still haven’t used!

For this card, I stamped and then masked the cute Poppy Stamps ghost cat from the Feline Spooky set. I then created a blended background using regular distress inks and oxide distress inks. Once I finished blending, I lightly stamped a Hero Arts background stamp in white ink. It looks more bluey/grey than white – which I like as I didn’t want the background to detract from my ghost scene!

I’ve been waiting for a new background tree die to arrive so I could use it for this card. Unfortunately it hasn’t come yet, but I decided that the Memory Box Forest Archway worked pretty well with this design. I stuck it on top of the base, removed the mask from the kitty and coloured his tail and cheeks! Don’t you just love that shadow underneath him? So cute!

To finish the card, I added a sentiment from the Poppy Stamps set and a few ghosts that I had cut from the Poppy Stamps Ghost Collage die!

Have a spooky evening!

Deer, I love you

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ink blending and Stamplorations is our sponsor.

I love ink blending especially with distress inks and distress oxides. I’ve been blending a lot of autumnal/Halloween colours recently so I wanted to use some different colours for this card. I ended up using Tattered Rose, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio. Don’t think I’ve ever used this combo before!

I used the Poppy Stamps Playful Deer Collage die to cut my card base and then stuck the blended background behind it. To finish off my card, I added a Winnie & Walter sentiment and a few hearts that I had cut from glitter cardstock.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Kaja from Kajcyika Crafts. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Moonlit Owl

Hi there!

For today’s card, I used the Moonlit Owl die from Sizzix/Tim Holtz. I love owls and have looked at this die a LOT over the past few months. But I couldn’t quite justify buying it…. and then it sold out from my local craft store. I was a bit disappointed, especially as I kept seeing other crafters using the die after it had sold…

Imagine my delight when my local store had one back in stock at the end of last week – AND it was deeply discounted! Of course I snapped it up!

Anyway I used it for my entry into the current Color Throwdown challenge. I just LOVE the colour combo (purple, black and white) this week – so striking!
