Leaf Bundle Hello

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Time Out challenge to CASE a beautiful card by Michelle Ferguson.

As soon as I saw Michelle’s card, I immediately thought of the Leaf Bundle embossing folder that I picked up recently from Simon Says Stamp. I decided that I wanted to ink up the folder so that the leaves popped, but I’ve had very limited success with this technique in the past. But today, I located an old brayer and used that to transfer Speckled Egg distress oxide ink – and I’m very happy with the result!

I added a vellum die cut (Sylvan Sprig by Poppystamps) and a sentiment by Concord & 9th plus a few Nuvo drops, although I wish I’d used silver Nuvo drops now rather than the purple as they look so dark in these photos!

Shiny Valentine

Hello everyone!

Tday I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge with a Valentine’s card using non-traditional colours!

I received an order from Simon Says Stamp this morning – I picked up a few of their embossing folders in a sale last month! Anyway, I could not wait to play, so I misted the reverse of some satin cardstock and got embossing with the Pinpoint Starlets folder. I love the deep embossing folders but I am very careful after the Great Pinecone Plethora Trauma of 2021! Anyway, I have found it easier to put a cutting plate on top of the embossing folder rather than below it – I find it ensures this satin cardstock stays in place.

I left the cardstock dry and die cut the hearts using a few Memory Box heart dies. I then adhered the Poppystamps Doodle Happy Valentine’s Day on the gold heart before sticking all the hearts onto the embossed base. I have to say this was very difficult to photograph but I got there in the end!

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge has a theme of embossing this week, so I’m also entering this card over there!

Deco delight

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the first Color Throwdown challenge of 2022 and it has such a super bold palette – black, gold or silver and white. Perfect for New Year’s cards, but I decided to go a different route – Art Deco !

I bought the Poppystamps Stepped Deco Frame before Christmas – I love the Art Deco sunrise/sunset design so I HAD to have this die when I saw it! I cut it twice – from gold and white cardstock and then did some inlaid die cutting! I added a sentiment from a Poppystamps set and a few gems from Lucy’s Little Things to complete my card.

A Seasonal Arrangement

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the last Color Throwdown challenge of 2021 and it has such a pretty, peaceful palette – mint, red and pink.

Rather than use my go-to white card base, I chose a light grey as neutrals are allowed! I decided to create an arrangement using the Memory Box Antique Pine Label die and some stems/flowers from the Spellbinders Christmas Blooms set.  During Christmas in July, I discovered the perfect sentiment for this die cut (by Simon Says Stamp) so I’ve used that again this time!

Dancing Snowflake Tile

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

When I saw this sketch I immediately thought of the Poppystamps Dancing Snowflake Tile die again – I last used it back during Christmas in July for another Freshly Made Sketches Challenge and I knew it would be perfect for this week’s challenge too!

This time I cut it from glitter card and added it to some paper from my patterned paper mountain. The sentiment is by Penny Black.

Au revoir, AAA Cards!

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards! But before I talk about my card, I wanted to let you know that this is my last challenge for AAA Cards. I was so delighted to be selected to join the DT back in May 2017 and I’m very grateful to Jane and the lovely team who made me feel so welcome. However, after 4.5 fun years, I felt it was time to step down. It has truly been an honour to be part of this talented team. All the very best to Maaike and the DT – I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing inspiration next year!

Back to the last challenge of 2021, which runs for four weeks! This time we’d like you to create a CAS Christmas card with the option of using a slimline card base.

I used a slimline card for my last DT post and wanted to do something different this time, so I chose a standard UK cardbase. I used the gorgeous Santa’s Snowy Hills die from Picket Fence Studios together with a few trees from a Marianne’s Designs set. My inspiration for this card came from the very talented Valerie who created this stunning card.

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Jane D, who has some really cute inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!
