Day 21 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 21 was Uniko Stamps. I don’t have many Uniko products, but I do have my eye on some of their fabulous stamp sets!

As I don’t have any Uniko Christmas products, I used stamps from Clearly Besotted and Penny Black for my take on Jane Taylor’s cute tag! I love how she put a wreath behind the tree – such a great design!

Birthday Starbursts

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a beautiful autumn day here today so I spent a lot of it in the garden, raking up yet more leaves and preparing my garden for winter.

I only had a short time to craft and this is what I came up with! In fact, this card came together in record time for me! It’s my take on the current challenge sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog.

I used a Penny Black sentiment die and some Crealies dies that I bought from my local craft store. I was originally intending to cut the sentiment from silver glitter card but when I tried it out with the sample die cut that I keep in with my die (that happened to be cut from black card), I really liked the boldness of the black so I decided to go with that!

Time to Celebrate!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘Celebrate!’ and Happy Little Stampers is our sponsor.

For my card I used one of my old wood-mounted Amuse Studio stamps. I love using it for celebratory cards! Anyway, after I embossed it, I blended some distress ink to create the background and added some light shadows using a Prismacolour pencil.

I decided to use a black card base for added impact so once I decided where the image was going to go, I embossed a small Penny Black sentiment. I stuck the image on to my card, but felt that the card still needed ‘something’. After pondering for a while, I decided to added a banner that I’d cut from some gold mirror card – which I think finishes the card off quite well!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Ros from Mikey’s Mom blog. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

I’m also adding this to the current Just Us Girls challenge – silhouette stamping.

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Dear Father Christmouse

Hi there everyone!

I love that participating in card challenges often means I reach for stamps I haven’t used for years… or have never used! Today I used a set that I haven’t opened for a long while – and chose a stamp that I don’t think I have ever used!

The theme for the current Casology challenge is ‘List’ and I remembered I had this Penny Black Christmas Critter stamp. I didn’t want to create a whole Christmas scene behind the mouse, so instead I masked off the image and embossed a Wendy Vecchi background stamp and did some soft ink blending.

I added a Penny Back die cut and a Dienamics frame to finish off the card.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – ‘Creatures Great and Smlla’>

Week 273 - List

Autumn greetings

Happy Friyay everyone!

I pulled out a rather neglected Penny Black background stamp today and coloured it with some distress inks. The Crushed Olive turned out a little lighter than I originally intended, but I decided to stick with it, rather than try to darken it!

It was quite nerve-racking to cut into the painted background once I had finished it, but I do love the hidden greeting technique and I am glad that I did it!

I’m entering this card into the current Color Throwdown Challenge – plum, rust and olive.

Have a great weekend!

Love Monster

Hello!

I must confess I was a bit stumped when I saw this week’s Less Is More challenge theme – ‘monsters’. There are loads of cute monster stamps on the market nowadays but I haven’t bought any as I know I just wouldn’t use them…

Then I remembered a very old wood-mounted stamp from Amuse Art Stanps that I bought a decade ago in Boston! Of course, I still have it because I can’t bear to get rid of any of my old rubber stamps!! Anyway, it’s called ‘Love Monster’ – perfect for the challenge theme!

I kept the card very simple as the image is very small – just a bit of soft ink blending and a sentiment banner to anchor the monster image. I also used a Penny Black snowflake frame to add a little more detail to my card.

The theme for the new Casology challenge is ‘cherish’ and I’m going to enter this card for that challenge as well – a quirky take on the theme!
