Penny Black

Featuring Penny Black products

Love You. Mean It.

Hi there everyone!

For today’s card, I pulled out an older Penny Black heart border stamp from my wood mounted stamp collection – it’s been quite a while since I used it and I enjoyed inking it up again!

I blended a little Tumbled Glass distress ink before I stamped the image and then added Bundled Sage afterwards.

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from My Favorite Things.

I used Delicata shimmer inks for the image and sentiment – I just love that shimmer!

I’m entering this into the current Case This Sketch Challenge and also the Work Your Stash Wednesday challenge over on Instagram.

Purple winter birds

Hi everyone!

I love my old wood-mounted rubber stamps, I really do! Yes, they take up a lot of storage space and you can’t ‘restamp’ an image like you can with a cling or clear stamp, but I still love them and could never part with them! I have a storage system that works well for me, it’s just that with all the new crafty stuff being released each month, they don’t get as much ‘airtime’ as they should!

And this Christmas has been no exception unfortunately. I’m going to make a conscious effort in 2018 to use at least one of my old wood-mounted stamps a week!

Anyway, on to today’s card! This week’s Less is More challenge is ‘birds/feathers’, so I pulled out this older Magenta image which I coloured with my Prismacolor pencils. The purples look more vibrant in the photo than they are in real life. I think I need to revisit my light setting!

Anyway, I cut some of my older patterned paper with a banner die and then stuck the image panel on top. To finish the card off, I added a Penny Black sentiment and some Nuvo glitter drops.

Blue and green challenge

Hi there!

It’s been a while since I played along with the Merry Monday challenge! This week was a colour challenge – blue/green/white or silver or vellum. I always find blue and green rather difficult to use. Not sure why, I just do! So I decided I should play along this week!

I used a cute die from Poppystamps – but once I’d cut the card, I realised the glitter snowman just didn’t stand out enough against the regular whit card stock, so I added a little bit of distress ink to define him a little more. I love how glittery this card is!

A Trio of Trees

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is Christmas and Uniko is our sponsor.

I’ve been making Christmas cards for a while now, but with a heavy frost over the past couple of nights, it’s definitely feeling more wintery here – perfect for staying in and creating! For my card I used a gorgeous scribble tree die by Simply Graphic which I cut from three different colours of glitter paper. I stuck these to my base card and then added a Penny Black sentiment – I quite like the contrast between the modern tree and more traditional font of the sentiment… what do you think?

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Cathy from Cathy’s Card Spot. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Day 22 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 22 was Stamplorations. Linda Walmsley was my inspiration for this tag – I loved how she created her tag on a kraft base!

As I don’t have any festive stamps by Stamplorations, I used one of my little-used Penny Black sets. Don’t know why it doesn’t seem to get much use – don’t you think the tree is fabulous? I didn’t have any red embossing powder for the sentiment so I decided to try my new red Delicata ink. Just look at that fabulous shimmer! Love these inks! I am so happy they are producing more colours!
