Featuring Penny Black products

Fluttering

Hello everyone!

It’s been a couple of weeks since I made a card – I think my Easter Egg challenge was quite draining, but at least my little tree looked good!

Anyway, I made this card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown challenges using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

The butterfly was created using the fabulous Flutter die (51-810) and stencil set (25-023). The CTD’s palette  is green, pink and yellow and I knew I wanted to use the latter two colours for my butterfly. So, to ensure the centres of the wings didn’t turn orange, I used a couple of masks when I was applying the yellow ink.

I die cut a couple of the Airy branches (51-423) from an old panel I had created using Distress Mica Stains and then adhered everything to a base that I had embossed with the Variegated Folder (65-008).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Trust Me builder set (30-710) and a few pearls.

Springtime Tableau

Hi again!

Next up today is another card created with products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their new Scent of Spring release.

I inked up the fabulous springtime image from the Scent of Spring clear stamp set (31-049) which I coloured with my Twinkling H2O paints and Prismacolor pencils.

I then cut a piece of white card using the largest frame from the new Frame It set (51-814) and coloured it with distress ink before adhering it on top of the stamped image. I added the little bird from the Heart Balloons set (51-493) – I turned the die cut over and added a tiny bit of distress ink before adhering it down. I don’t usually like using the reverse side of a die cut but this one turned out quite well – it helps that it is so small I suppose!

Finally I added a sentiment from the Note Builder mini stamp set (31-046).

Love, light and floral wings

Hi there!

I’ve spent a lovely day in my craft room making cards with some beautiful products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their latest release, Scent of Spring.

First up is my entry into this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The butterfly was created using the beautiful Floral Wings stencils (25-022) and die (51-809). I find it easier to cut the butterfly from white cardstock first before using the stencil set. I used various purple distress inks on the wings and then used Cosmic Shimmer Luna paste for a couple of the layers – so shimmery!

For the background, I masked off a square and blended distress ink on my card base before embossing it with the Noted folder (65-005).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Love & Light mini stamp set (31-037).

Happy Mother’s Day 2024!

Hello everyone!

Here is the first of two cards I gave to my lovely mum today!

This card was created with products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their new Scent of Spring release. I started with a fabulous image from the Scent of Spring clear stamp set (31-049). I love that they have another iteration of their beautiful autumnal brolly that I used last September! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and then fussy cut it.

I then cut a piece of white card using the new All-in-one Octagon (51-816) and adhered a small panel of blended distress ink behind the ocatgon before adhering it to a square card base. I added the Ocatgon frame and brolly using foam tape before stamping a sentiment created from stamps from The Sweetest mini stamp set (30-294).

Finally I added a few butterflies from one of my favourite sets – Flourish and Butterflies (51-198).

I’m entering this into the March Flower Challenge where the theme is ‘Make a Square card’.

Aerial Beauty

Hi there!

This morning I received some beautiful products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their latest release, Scent of Spring.

My package had spent a frustrating week enjoying the hospitality of British customs at Heathrow, and so I could not wait to get crafty! The first products I reached for were the amazing Aerial butterfly stencils (25-024) and die (51-811). I cut the butterfly from white cardstock first before using the stencil set. I inlaid the die cut back into the card that I had cut it from and kept it in place using masking tape on the back and then simply laid the stencils on top. It worked well for me as it meant that I could balance the white edging on each wing.

Anyway, I used various distress inks on the wings and then added glitter around the edges of the wings – this is so sparkly in real life!

For the background, I used the pretty new All-in-one Oval (51-815). I blended more distress ink on my card base before adhering the Oval background panel and then Miss Aerial on top.

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Delightful Day set (30-955) and a few sequins.

Great Day Blooms

Hi there!

The palette for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge is red, kraft and white – perfect for Valentines! BUT…. by the time I got to the challenge this weekend, I did not feel like making a card with hearts so challenged myself to do something different using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I knew I wanted to use the Beautiful Burst of Blooms die (51-764) as my focal point so started with that before I had decided on a background – which is unusual for me. I used kraft, red glitter and red mirror card and cut/layered the red flowers to the kraft stems.

This is when I hit a bit of a creative block – kraft is one of the palette colours but a stem alone didn’t feel enough. But I hadn’t darkened it before adheing the flowers so thought it wouldn’t stand out against a kraft background… Fortunately, after a while I reminded myself that I never have the same quandary when I’m working with white stems and a white background. So I pulled out some kraft card for a base!

I embossed it with one of my favourite folders – Encircle (51-009) and then lightly rubbed some white ink to highlight the embossing.

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Enliven mini stamp set (30-705) and a few gems.
