Looking forward to Autumn decor

Hello everyone!

Next up today is my card for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using the colour palette from the Color Throwdown challenge and products by Penny Black.

After our very hot summer, I am totally ready for autumn with its cooler temperatures, beautiful colours and of course all the pretty decorations! So when I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of the wheatsheaves from the  Autumn Decor die set (51-653) that I bought a few years ago! This is such a versatile set – I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it in 2020 and basically stalked our UK retailer’s online store for weeks!! Anyway, I decided to use it with the Color Throwdown’s combo of mustard, navy blue and turquoise – I know that’s not a traditional palette for wheatsheaves, but it’s a lot of fun! I used distress inks to colour my die cuts, although surprisingly I ended up using Fossilised Amber rather than Mustard Seed as I felt the latter was a bit too bright.

The sentiment is from the Banner Sentiments stamp set (30-423).

Dancing Branchlets

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and  Sketches.

Despite the ridiculous heatwave that we have right now, I decided to create another autumnal card with Penny Black products. I’ve had the beautiful Dancing Branchlets die (51-247) for a while and although I’ve played with it a few times, I’ve never used it on a card. Until now!

For my very CAS take on the sketch, I masked off a rectangle and blended four distress oxide inks (Dusty Concord, Fired Brick, Crackling Campfire and Wild Honey). Then I cut the branchlets from some brown glitter card and adhered it to the card base. Finally I added a sentiment from the Autumn is Calling stamp set (30-863)

Repurposed Christmas in July Berry Card

Hello everyone!

One month ago, on the 10th Day of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022, I shared this card. At the time, I felt it was more of a card for autumn rather than for Christmas because of the colour combo that I was working with. As time went on, I knew that there was no way that I would send it as a Christmas card so I knew I had to repurpose it at some point and today was the day! All products are by Penny Black.

I had made the slimline card using the Slimline Medley die set (51-718) cut from white cardstock. I removed the sentiment and the Berries die cut (51-712) from the centre circle and added a sentiment from the Autumn is Calling stamp set (30-863). I then cut up the berry branch and popped it around the sentiment.

I feel much happier about this card now! I guess I should make a replacement Christmas in July card… maybe with the same supplies, but using different colours of course!!!

Flowers in leafy vines

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black.

The palette this week is green, brown, black and white and after weeks of using Christmas supplies, I was very happy to get out my non-festive supplies!

I started by masking off a rectangle and blending some Vintage Photo distress ink on my card base. I then inked up the beautiful Letter Background cling stamp (40-780) and stamped it over the masked off section of my base. Then I got busy with my dies! I cut some green patterned paper with dies from the Garden Greens die set (51-652) and arranged them on the card base. I then used white glitter card and cut flowers from the Autumn Decor (51-653) and Cherry Blossom (51-419) die sets. Once I had got an arrangement that I was happy with, I stuck everything down and added a twine bow and some black centres to each flower.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Ever Thanks set (30-813).

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 15

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 15 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge. When I first saw the combo of aqua, yellow, purple and coral, I felt quite stumped as I just couldn’t think of a way of using them in a festive card.

Then, this morning inspiration struck (phew!). I die cut the twinkling lights image from a Studio Light set from gold card, snipped off the individual lights and replaced them with lights in the challenge colours.

To complete my card, I added a Memory Box sentiment.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 10

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 10 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black.

First of all, I have to congratulate the CTD team for hitting 700 challenges! What an amazing achievement! This is one of my favourite challenges and I’m so happy I discovered it back in July 2016! I entered challenge 403 when I was new to sharing my work online and didn’t even have this blog!

The palette this week is orange, yellow, kraft and brown. Hmm, feels more autumnal than festive, doesn’t it…. but let’s see what I can do.

I decided make a slimline card using the Slimline Medley die set (51-718) which I cut from white cardstock. As I wanted some shading in each of the circular windows, I sponged my card base using Vintage Photo distress oxide and adhered the frame section using foam tape. I then cut the beautiful Berries die (51-712) three times and coloured with distress inks before adhering in place.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Hearts Come Home mini set (30-849).

I thought my card ended up looking more autumnal than I hoped and went back to add a few stickles to try to make it a little more festive, not sure if that really did the trick though!
