Christmas in July 2023 – Day 1

Happy Saturday everyone!

It’s that time of year again! LucieG’s Christmas in July! Woohoo! For the past few years, I’ve dedicated July to Christmas cardmaking and reaped the benefits in November/December when life always seems to get super busy! I LOVE having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends rather than stress about making them before the posting deadline. Plus I get a chance to use the festive supplies I didn’t get round to using last year… or bought in the after-Christmas sales this year!

Anyway, for Christmas in July Day 1, I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I started by creating a night sky by blending various purple distress oxide inks. I then inked up a tree from the Peaceful Woodland set (30-922) and heat embossed it with some rainbow glitter embossing powder – the sparkle is amazing in real life! I extended the lines for the ground using some black stickles and finally added a sentiment from the Jolly Snippets set (30-925).

Expressive

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge where the colour combo is red, blue, brown and white.

I have been wanting to play with the beautiful Expressive cling stamp (40-897) that Penny Black kindly sent me and this challenge provided the perfect opportunity! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and then masked it off so that I could sponge a distress ink background.

The sentiment is from the Trust Me Builder set (30-710).

Warm Happy Thoughts

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent me by Penny Black.

I started by using the Butterfly Heart Pop Out die (51-291) to cut some white card. I popped up the butterfly wings and adhered it to my card base.  I then cut the Finesse die (51-679) and coloured it with my regular distress inks and a little coloured pencil before adhering it on top of the heart.

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Happy Builder mini stamp set (30-973).

Hollyhock Heaven

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m using more products that Penny Black’s kindly sent me from their recent Hello Sunshine release. For this card, I usedAntique Linen distress ink to stamp the beautiful Hollyhock Heaven cling stamp (40-824) on some watercolour cardstock and coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints. Once the paint was dry, I stamped the image again as I felt that some of the leaves needed a little more definition. I wish I could capture the shimmer on my photo!

To complete the card, I added a sentiment from the Happy Builder mini stamp set (30-973).

Graceful love and thanks

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using some products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

First of all, I decided to use the Butterfly String die (51-648) to reflect the five strips on the sketch. As I wanted to add an image to my design, I die cut them from white cardstock. For my focal point. I chose the beautiful Graceful stamp set (30-963) and coordinating die (51-770) from the new Hello Sunshine release. I coloured the flowers with my Twinkling H2O paints but the vase is actually paper piecing! This technique can be so effective and is super easy when you have an easy to cut shape like this vase!

The sentiment is also from the Graceful set.

Treasured

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Penny Black has a fabulous new release called Hello Sunshine which has something for everyone – flowers, scenes, cute critters and sentiments – I was particularly pleased to see a few strip sentiments sets!

Today I’m using some of the products from this release that Penny Black kindly sent me and I chose to begin with the beautiful Treasured stamp (40-893). It’s a brushstroke stamp which I rarely use, but I don’t know why as they are so easy to use with the Misti! I used Milled Lavender and Peeled Paint distress oxide inks here – I lightly misted the stamp with water and I love how the colours changed with oxidisation. It looks like I used a bit of Antique Linen too doesn’t it…. but I didn’t!!!

Anyway, I used one of the sentiment dies from the release – Hello Edger (51-772). I coloured the word with Milled Lavender and actually included a smidge of Antique Linen because I wasn’t sure that the oxidisation would have the same effect again. I added a few butterflies to complete my card – they are from the Flourish and Butterflies die set (51-198) and I also cut one from the Butterfly Heart Pop Out die (51-291) .
