Newton’s Nook

Hey, colourful pumpkin!

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with two of my favourite challenges with this card – Freshly Made Sketches and the Color Throwdown! The pretty palette this week is purple, red and orange!

I used the beautiful pumpkin from the With a Thankful Heart set by Reverse Confetti and added a few Simply Graphic die cuts together with a sentiment from an older Avery Elle set. For the background, I applied clear glossy texture paste using the Newton Nook Pumpkin Patch stencil – really like the overall effect of that paste!

Day 3 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year!

Newton’s Nook was the sponsor for Day 3 – I LOVE Newton so I had a hard time trying to choose an inspiration tag and image! In the end, I chose the tag made by Ellen H as my inspiration and used the sweet Purr-fect Present stamp and coordinating die. I created the base using various distress inks and the Ornament stencil by Newton’s Nook.

Hang in there!

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards! This fortnight we’re challenging you to use one image and the optional twist is positivity. Our sponsor is Precious Remembrance Shop

While I’m focussing on Christmas in July this month, I decided to make a non-festive card for my take on the challenge theme. I’ll share my Day 21 card a little later today.

When I saw the optional twist, I knew I had to use the fabulous ‘Newton hangs out’ set from Newton’s Nook which has a couple of super encouragement sentiments. I wanted to create a little more height with the main image so I stamped a section of the tree trunk twice. I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2Os and then masked it off. I added a few clouds cut from masking paper and then gently applied some Tumbled Glass distress ink. I love removing the mask from an image, don’t you? Almost as satisfying as heat embossing!

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by the talented Sharon from the From My Craft Desk blog – she has some fabulous cards on her blog, so please do check them out too!

Advice from a Snowman

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches – it’s a fabulous sketch and perfect for quick and easy cards.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use the fabulous new Snowman Advice stamp by Newton’s Nook. I thought I could pair it with some snowman patterned paper, if I had some…. so I went to my paper mountain and found at least SIX different snowman designs! Honestly! SIX!!!

I just had to choose a Basic Grey design. Isn’t it cute? I miss Basic Grey so much. I have many fond memories of being in the Craft Barn in Lingfield back in the day, choosing 12×12 sheets from their new releases…. at least I still have my own Basic Grey mini paper mountain in my craft room!

Anyway, onto the card. I embossed the wording and then blended Altenew and distress inks over it, before wiping the excess from the embossing.

I cut a rectangle of patterned paper and adhered both to my card base. Super quick and simple! I may use this design for some of the Christmas cards I have left to make!
