My Favorite Things

Sweet Winter Wishes

Happy Saturday everyone!

While my Great Festive Cardmaking Frenzy of 2017 may be over, I’m definitely not ready to put my Christmas supplies away!

For this card, I used a couple of dies from Simon Says Stamp together with a stencil and stamp from My Favorite Things.

I’m entering this into a number of challenges:

Casology Challenge (grey)

CAS Mix Up Challenge (stamping, die cutting, stencilling)

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge (anything goes)

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Pink Christmas!

Happy December everyone!

Well, my Christmas tree and lights are up and I’m starting to feel quite festive – are you?

For today’s card, I used dies from Simon Says Stamp and My Favorite Things and lots of glitter paper. For a little extra interest/sparkle, I also added some Nuvo glitter drops to the background.

I’m entering this card into the current Less Is More challenge – ‘let it shine’.

Day 4 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The Day 4 sponsor was Reverse Confetti. Love love love their products and could not believe that I didn’t have anything Christmassy by them! Rather than re-purpose one of their sets, I decided to use a very old wood-mounted stamp from Funstamps as I had been absolutely inspired by the blue/white/snowmen tags that the DT had come up with – I guess my tag is a hybrid of tags made by Jen del Muro and Heather Hoffman.

I created a background using a stencil and the stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts before creating a shaker using a frame die from my Favorite Things. Then I turned to my ‘oldie but goodie’ snowman which I coloured with Twinkling H2Os before fussy cutting him out. I added him to the top of my shaker – thanks Jen, for that idea!

To create the ‘hanger’ for the ribbon, I cut part of a Simon Says Stamp ornament die and stuck that to the back of my tag and then stuck another piece of card on top to prevent it from moving.

Dear Father Christmouse

Hi there everyone!

I love that participating in card challenges often means I reach for stamps I haven’t used for years… or have never used! Today I used a set that I haven’t opened for a long while – and chose a stamp that I don’t think I have ever used!

The theme for the current Casology challenge is ‘List’ and I remembered I had this Penny Black Christmas Critter stamp. I didn’t want to create a whole Christmas scene behind the mouse, so instead I masked off the image and embossed a Wendy Vecchi background stamp and did some soft ink blending.

I added a Penny Back die cut and a Dienamics frame to finish off the card.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – ‘Creatures Great and Smlla’>

Week 273 - List

First galaxy card

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is ‘Written in the stars’. I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to attempt my first galaxy background. There are some amazing galaxy cards on Instagram and I have been itching to give it a go.

It turned out to be super easy and incredibly quick!

Step 1

I used a few bright distress inks to create my first layer. I didn’t worry too much about smoothing out the blending as I knew any uneven patches would be hidden by the next layer.

Step 2

Next, I added a layer of dark ink – I chose to use Black Soot Distress Oxide. On reflection, maybe this could have been a bit darker. I’ll see what that’s like next time I do a galaxy background.

Step 3

I added some splashes of water to give the impression of distant light. I decided that OI wouldn’t add any white splatters to this background as I was going to be adding a busy die cut to the foreground. Otherwise, I would definitely add them!

To finish the card, I added a Technique Tuesday die cut, a Dienamics frame and a sentiment from Hero Arts.

Mr and Mrs

Good morning everyone!

I’m excited to say that I was chosen as the Color Throwdown blog’s Featured Stamper last week and so I’m over at their blog today as their Guest Star Stamper!

The colour palette this week is aqua, light pink, lavender and white. Can I just say: I LOVE THIS COLOUR COMBO SOOOOO MUCH!

I used a combination of Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar) and an Altenew ink (Lavender Fields) for my card.

I heat embossed a My Favorite Things background stamp and applied the inks using the ‘plastic bag blending technique’ that I learned from Kristina Werner at Simon Says Create earlier this year.

I cut a Simon Says Stamp die from some silver glitter paper and added an embossed Ellen Hudson sentiment. Finally I added a few silver hearts as a finishing touch.

The Color Throwdown team have come up with some great ideas for this week’s palette over on the challenge blog – I do hope you’ll play along too!

Thanks for stopping by!
