Layered spring flowers

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown, which has another beautiful palette for us this week – blue, coral pink, green and kraft.

My new Memory Box dies arrived this morning so I leapt at the opportunity to play with them immediately! I blended some Distress Oxide (Tumbled Glass, Tattered Rose, Bundled Sage and Frayed Burlap) onto white cardstock which I then cut multiple times using the Layered Poppy, Layered Rose and Layered Tulip dies.

I used glitter paste and a stencil to create a soft but sparkly background and adhered the flowers. I die cut a second piece of cardstock for the bottom section of my card, sponging a little Bundled Sage along the curved edge before adhering it to the base using foam tape.

The sentiment is also by Memory Box.

Playful Pusscat

Hello friends!

I decided to play along with the current Time Out challenge today. The theme is ‘playful’ and I decided to turn Memory Box’s Crouching Cat into a playful kitty swinging from a Simon Says Stamp tree, ready to pounce on an unsuspecting passer-by!

The kitty’s paws are separate from the main die cut and as I wanted the kitty to be able to swing a little, I adhered them to the cat using some acetate rather than sticking them onto the card separately.

I adhered the frame to a rainbow background created with Distress Oxide inks and added a Memory Box sentiment and a few die cut hearts to finish off the card.

Framed Bunny

Happy Good Friday!

I don’t really create many cutesy cards… except at Easter time it seems! I guess I just can’t resist those sweet bunnies!

Today’s card uses dies from three companies – Memory Box (bunny), Lawn Fawn (eggs) and Simon Says Stamp (frame).

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – die cutting.

Waltham Easter Egg

Hello everyone!

I’m playing along in two challenges today – the Case This Sketch challenge and the Memory Box April challenge where the theme is clean and simple.

I chose an ‘oldie but goodie’ Memory Box die that I have had for many years – the pretty Waltham Egg and coloured it with my Zig brushmarkers before adding some highlights with my Prismacolor pencils. I then added a generous coat of Pixie Dust, which hopefully you can see a bit of in the second photo!

I adhered it to a couple of die cuts to provide some dimension, before sticking it onto an oval base that I had smooshed with Tumbled Glass distress ink.

I added some Basic Grey papers as per the sketch challenge and carefully stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. Finally I added some tiny Nuvo drops.

Embossed butterflies

Happy Sunday!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards! This fortnight we are challenging you to make a card in ‘minutes’ with the optional twist of one of my favourite techniques – dry embossing! Our sponsor is Heffydoodle who are offering a price of a £25 voucher to their store!

What do we mean by ‘made in minutes’? Well, after planning your card and gathering your supplies you card should take 15 – 30 minutes to complete!

Now, I confess, I was nervous about this challenge as I am not a fast cardmaker. I don’t like rushing the creative process, I enjoy it! Anyway, I knew I had to focus on die cutting as that’s a pretty quick technique and I wanted to case one of my older cards where I inlaid embossed die cuts.

I chose a simple die, some previously-rejected ink blending and a couple of embossing folders and got to work. It probably took me about 20 minutes to assemble this card, and then another 20 to find a stencil that I decided I needed for the card base once I’d assembled my die cut image!!

The sentiment is by Hero Arts and I used embossing folders by Cuttlebug and Crafts Too.

My team mates  have created some gorgeous CAS cards over at AAA Cards and we are joined by guest designer Kateryna who has some amazing cards on her Instagram feed.

Hope you can play along with us!
