Heart Week 2025 – Day 3

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 3 of Heart Week 2025!

A very quick CAS card from me today – it’s not that I didn’t have time to craft – rather that I didn’t have much room to craft – the craftermath on my table is crazy.

I used an older Impression Obsession die plus a wood-mounted sentiment stamp that I picked up a few years ago.

Heart Week 2025 – Day 2

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 2 of Heart Week 2025!

My heart card today is my entry for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players where the theme is ‘love is in the air’.

A little order from Simon Says Stamp arrived this morning and I could not wait to play with one item in particular – the Birch Press Design Block Print Hummingbird die set. I loved this as soon as I saw the release (isn’t is tail fab?). I couldn’t find any UK stockists for this release so Simons to the rescue!

I cut the dies from a few different papers and then adhered them together. I paired it with an older Simon Says Stamp die called Clipping Heart and added a few of the little punched hearts from yesterday’s card. The sentiment is from a Spellbinders set.

30 Day Christmas Card Challenge 2024 – Day 21

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Martin’s 30 Day Christmas Card Challenge this month.

The theme of Day 21’s challenge is ‘first snowflake’.

Perfect excuse for me to pull out the Birch Press Design Crochet Snowflake stamp set! This time I paired gold mirror card and whit glitter card plus fabulous sparkly bling that I have had forever!

The background is a Spellbinders embossing folder and the sentiment is by Sizzix.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 9

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 9 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

Today I’m using a new-to-me die set, the Crochet Snowflake set by Birch Press Design. It was released in 2022 and I resisted getting it despite loving every single card made with it that popped up on my Instagram feed over the past 18 months! I finally caved earlier this year and I am so glad I did!

It’s another big layered set  but works well with a standard US sized-card which is slightly wider and shorter than a UK A6 card. I covered my card base with some My Mind’s Eye paper and then die cut the three layers using black shimmer card, gold textured mirror card and quartz glitter card. The snowflake base die also cuts a pattern into the card stock so I stuck those small pieces onto my card base.

To complete my card, I added a small die cut sentiment from a Moonstone set.

Yellow petal egg

Hello there!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge where the colour palette is pink, yellow and green. Wonderful for Easter and spring cards!

I picked up the Birch Press Design Layered Petal Egg die set in a sale recently and have been looking forward to using it – today was the day! I took inspiration from this card I made three years ago and paired it with the Birch Press Design Oval Leaf Branches Contour Layers dies and a few Poppystamps flowers.

I adhered the adorned egg to a panel embossed using the Nellie’s Choice Egg embossing folder and added a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp to complete my card.

Woodblock Wednesday: Silly Pup

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with Amy Tsuruta’s Woodblock Wednesday challenge which is a monthly challenge celebrating our fabulous wood-mounted stamps. If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know I love my old wood-mounted stamps and could never part with them! Back in 2019 I even challenged myself to use them for the duration of a couple of the Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge – you can read about that here and here.

I saw a post about the challenge by Lin on instagram today and knew I had to play along. I love seeing how some cardmakers use their older stamps with newer products and I decided to do the same for my card! I chose the fabulous Silly Pup by Hero Arts. This stamp is dated 2006… Seriously, how can this be 17 years old?? I remember buying him – I generally buy cat stamps as I’m surrounded by cat lovers and so it was a Big Deal for me to buy a puppy stamp. But look at his spots!!! How could I not get him?!

I stamped and fussy cut him before adding coloured spots with my Twinkling H2O paints. I stamped his head a second time and adhered that to his body some foam tape – I did toy with using an action wobbler which would have been quite fun!

For my background, I dug into my newer supplies – the Birch Press Design String Art Frame die. The sentiment is also newer – by My Favorite Things.

Amy also said she wanted to know how we store our wood-mounted stamps. I store mine in A4+ Tuff boxes which I keep in my craftroom cupboards. I’ve taken photos of each Tuff box and indexed them so I know the exact location (cupboard/shelf). When I want to use a wood-mounted stamp, I look through my photos and can locate my stamp very quickly. I’ve had this system in place for YEARS and it works really well for me. Wish I could be that organised with my clear stamps and dies!
