Easter comparison

Hello Friends and happy almost Friday!

With Easter only a few weeks away I decided it was high time I dusted down my Easter supplies and get to work as I do like to make and send out Easter cards!

I unearthed a cute stamp set by Pink & Main which I think arrived too late for Easter last year so I decided to use them for a super quick CAS card. I wanted to play along with the colour challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and selected a few Altenew inks which seemed to match the challenge colours. Then my eyes landed on my newly-acquired Gina K inks and I decided it would be good to test them out on these stamps – so I ended up with two cards!

 

First up here, the Altenew inks card. I LOVE the Altenew inks and find they stamp very well – in fact I have all of them in my collection! I added a Lawn Fawn sentiment which I had smothered in Nuvo Aqua shimmer – love the delicate sheen!

 

 

Next my Gina K inks. I won some at Simon Says Create and have been trying to swatch them since I got home. They also stamp very nicely and the colours are so vibrant. Think I’ll be reaching for these a lot too! I used the same Lawn Fawn die cut but in the interests of comparison, I painted the die cut with a layer of Ink On 3’s Pixie Dust. Oh my goodness! Can you see that shimmer? Wonderful! Now I want to PIXIE DUST ALL THINGS!!

Birthday Pomander

Hello all!

Today I’m playing along with the current Case This sketch challenge. It’s one of THOSE sketches this week – you know when you have a thousand ideas but have to choose just one!

In the end, I decided to use my new Altenew Prettiest Pomander set. I played with this set at the Simon Says Create Make and Takes and of course I HAD to have it after!! I don’t usually stamp the outline image when doing layered stamping, but this one need it because there’s at least one berry that wouldn’t have a stem otherwise. I used a black ink outline for the card I made at Create and I felt that was a little too heavy for the delicate image. This time, I chose a very light grey Altenew ink (Limestone) and a very gentle touch and I’m happy with how it turned out this time!

The sentiment is by Hero Arts and the embossing folder that I used is Radiant Rays by Creative Expressions. I saw Jennifer McGuire use this folder at the weekend and started to hunt for it online afterwards! And then I discovered that I bought it in January!! Honestly! Well at least I made that discovery before I bought it again!

Happy Birthday Flower Frame

Hello friends!

I loved the challenge colour combo that I used for last Sunday’s card that I decided to use all the little negative pieces to create a birthday card for a friend who loves sparkles!

I used some white glitter card to cut the fabulous Outline Floral Frame from Simon Says Stamp and got to work inserting all the little pieces. I rescued all of them apart from one leaf! Very annoying,  but as I didn’t have much time, I planned to insert a white glitter leaf instead.

Can you spot it? No?

Well that’s because just as I was clearing up I found the missing leaf! Yay!

I added a bold sentiment from Penny Black and a few Nuvo glitter drops to finish off the card.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – feminine/girly.

Fancy Flower Garden

Hello friends!

Another item that I purchased from the new Hero Arts release was the gorgeous Flower Garden Fancy die. It is so pretty…. I love background dies and just couldn’t resist adding this one to my collection.

I coloured all the images with my Altenew watercolour paints and then added some Nuvo drops for the flower centres.

The sentiment die is by Waffle Flower Crafts.

I’m entering this into the current Flower Challenge (anything goes) and the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (feminine/girly).

Hello flowery friend

Hello friends!

There’s a fabulous colour combo over at CAS Colours and Sketches this week and I have been looking forward to using it all week!

I created an ink blended background with a couple of Altenew inks and then cut it using one of my favourite background/frame dies – the Outline Floral Frame from Simon Says Stamp.

I cut some blackberry coloured cardstock using sentiment dies from Simon Says Stamp and Karen Burniston and added a few sequins to finish it off.

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge where the theme is ‘friends’.

Crafty friends are the best

Hello everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we have something new for you!

We’d like you to choose a sentiment and three items only from our AAA Cards Wheel of Fortune! Perhaps we should call that our ‘Wheel of CAS Creativity’! Anyway,  we have an optional twist of ‘friends’ and our sponsor is Pink & Main.

I must confess I found it pretty challenging to select items from three separate segments as I was worried my CAS card would quickly become rather cluttered. Once I had chosen my sentiment (by Altenew), I selected quite a large image (Scrapbook Girls stamp by Denami Design) so I knew that the best way of achieving a CAS card would be to choose the colouring pens/pencils option plus something that wouldn’t compete with my large detailed image – so I chose the small embellishments. Three tiny sequins! Can you see them?!

While I really struggled with this card to begin with, I LOVE how this Wheel of CAS Creativity stretched me to think differently about supplies. Ordinarily I would never have coloured this image with my pencils, but I had to because ‘paints’ weren’t an option and so my beloved Twinkling H2Os had to stay in the cupboard! It certainly wasn’t the quickest card that I have ever made but I ended up feeling quite pleased… or maybe relieved… that my card was still CAS!
