One Cool Cat

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite sketch challenges, Freshly Made Sketches.

I spent a good part of my crafty time this morning trying to get to grips with a technique Tim Holtz demonstrated last year in the hopes of incorporating it into my entry today. Suffice to say that I still need to perfect said technique so instead this afternoon, I turned to an older Hero Arts Layering Stamp set (Brave Lion). I paired it with a sentiment by My Favorite Things.

The panel was embossed using a Park Lane Paperie embossing folder called Aztec and added a Honey Bee Stamps Heart Vine die cut for good measure!

Vases silhouettes

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with two of my favourite challenges, the Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches.

I’ve been waiting for the Altenew Spring Mantle Decor set to reach the UK since it was released in mid April. I snapped it up as soon as Seven Hills Crafts got it into their store over the bank holiday!

I carefully blended Salvaged Patina and Picked Raspberry distress oxide inks to create the background. In addition to the foliage from the new die set, I added part of a branch from the Berries and Branches die set. The sentiment is also by Altenew.

Color Throwdown – Just Because

Hello everyone!

I’m delighted to be the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges, the Color Throwdown. They have a lovely peaceful palette this week – light blue, grey and kraft

I used dies from a few different manufacturers – Penny Black (cat), Altenew (sentiment) and Poppystamps (circle). I sponged Hickory Smoke and Stormy Sky distress ink to quickly colour the images.

The Color Throwdown team are all sharing some gorgeous inspiration over on the blog. Hope you can play along too!

Starry Flowers Hello

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! They have another fabulous colour palette this week – plum, cream and black!

I usually have problems when purple is included in a colour challenge palette, but I was lucky this week as I had a lovely shade of plum in my Twinkling H2O paint collection. So, I inked up the beautiful Altenew Starry Flowers stamp and quickly coloured it using the Twinklings and a black coloured pencil for the stems. I added a few black Nuvo drops to the centres after I cut out the image with the coordinating die. I cut the Altenew Burlap die from black card and adhered it and the flower cluster to a cream card base. To complete my take, I added a sentiment from the Altenew Painted Sentiments set and tucked it partly behind my main image.

Day 3 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 3 was Altenew. I love Altenew and have all their inks and quite a few older florals and dies… but I don’t have much from their recent releases. However, I still managed to use some Altenew product for this card.

I loved the tags made by the creative team and decided to use Norine‘s inspiration for my take. The embossed sentiment, base tag and fronds are by Altenew and I also used dies by Poppystamps.

Day 2 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 2 was Simon Says Stamp – all the inspiration was amazing, but as I’m short on time, I decided to use Barbara Tarayao.’s die cut tag as my inspiration.

My base tag is by Altenew and all other dies used here are by Simon Says Stamp.
