Cards created for the AAA Cards challenge

Better with Friends

Happy Sunday everyone! August already! Seriously! where is this year going?

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and our theme this fortnight is friendship. Our sponsor is CAS-ual Fridays.

There are so many ways to reflect this theme, aren’t there? In the end I decided to do some simple stamping and colouring using the Altenew Ditsy Print stamp set. I love that pretty pattern – and even though Altenew included layering stamps in the set, I wanted to use my Prismacolor pencils to colour it. I must confess, I got a little carried away when colouring this image – I lost track of time and burnt my dinner! Oops! At least it was still edible…. just!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Sandie from London Days as our Guest Designer. She has some fabulous creations – you must pay her a visit!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Somewhere over the rainbow…

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and our theme this fortnight is ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ – we want to see your rainbow cards! Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

Last year, I took the ‘Rainbow Maker’ class from Online Card Classes and practiced a lot of rainbow techniques – I love using them on my cards, so I really had fun coming up with a card for this theme!

In the end, I decided to use a Poppystamps die cut from a rainbow background that I created with distress inks. My inspiration for today’s card was this fabulous card by the talented Lisa Addesa! To finish my card, I added a sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly and a few gems.

I’m also entering this into the current Poppystamps challenge – ‘Birthday Party’.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by our sponsor Shery as well as the fabulous Karen from Kenny’s Cards as our Guest Designer. She has some super creations – you must pay her a visit!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Let it snow… in July!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards! This fortnight we are celebrating Christmas in July and want to see your CAS Christmas Cards!

AS I mentioned in an earlier post, I actually decided to embrace Christmas in July after a crazy cardmaking frenzy last year! I was determined to avoid that again! I’ve already made a few cards – it’s the perfect chance to use the supplies I purchased in the sales or when they came back into stock. It’s also a chance to show some love to some overlooked supplies before I get dazzled by this year’s products!

Anyway, for my card, I used an older snowflake stamp set from Hero Arts and stamped them with various layers of distress oxide inks (picked raspberry, wilted violet and seedless preserves). Once I was happy with the colour mix of each stamped image,  I spritzed them with perfect pearls. I even used one of my very old square punches to cut out the snowflake squares as it was the perfect size for the images!

The sentiment stamp is also from Hero Arts.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by our sponsor Kylie from Happy Little Stampers as well as our Guest Designer – Maria from White Mood. She has some fabulous creations – you must pay her a visit!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

It’s a frame up!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards! This fortnight we are challenging you to ‘use a frame’ and our sponsor is Stamplorations.

I often use frames on my cards, but it’s been quite a while since I used this sketch frame die from Simon Says Stamp. I inlaid a blended background that I created with regular distress ink and then added a Simon Says Stamp flower die cut on top.

I wasn’t going to add a greeting at first but then I decided to include one. I planned to add a small die cut sentiment but didn’t have any that could fit into the space I wanted to use – so this is actually cut with a ‘happy valentine’s day’ die – but I think it works quite well!

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – ‘Anything Goes’ and the current Timeout Challenge – ‘warm’.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by our sponsor Sherry as well as the super-talented Natasha as our Guest Designer. Natasha’s instagram handle is ‘craftawaywithme’ but she has just started her own blog – craftawaywithme.com. She has some fabulous creations – you must pay her a visit!

Geometrics

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards! This fortnight’s theme is geometrics’ and our sponsor is Uniko.

This was quite a challenge for me. I knew I wanted to use inlaid die-cutting with the cool triangle dies that I bought from Simply Graphic a few months ago AND incorporate the colour combo from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (aqua, black and white). But the design…. well that was a real challenge! I tried so many different versions and decided on this super-CAS layout in the end. The ‘hi’ die is by Lil inker Designs and I replaced the dot above the ‘i’ with a triangle from one of the unused black die cuts to reflect the theme!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Carol from CarolG Creates. She has some fabulous creations – you must check out her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

For my card, I used stamps from one of our sponsors, Newton’s Nook. I just HAD to have this stamp as soon as I saw that cute cat balloon! Anyway, after stamping and colouring Newton, I masked the image and also some cloud shapes before gently blending some distress ink.

And for those of you looking… here is my colour square!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog – I do hope you can join us with all the fun this fortnight!

Thanks for stopping by!
