Christmas in July 2022 – Day 2

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 2 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using products sent to me by Penny Black.

I decided to use a mini slimline card for my card today and applied a light layer of Old Paper distress ink to my card base. Next I inked up the pretty wintery bouquet from the Beautified stamp set (30-870) using my Frayed Burlap Archival ink. I lifted the colour from the leaves and berries using some water. I coloured in the image using my beloved Twinkling H2Os and then splattered some brown paint across the card base.

To complete my card I used a sentiment from the Holiday Snippets stamp set (30-307).

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 1

Happy Friyay everyone!

It’s that time of year again! LucieG’s Christmas in July! Woohoo! For the past couple of years, I’ve dedicated July to Christmas cardmaking and reaped the benefits in November/December when life always seems to get super busy! I LOVE having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends rather than stress about making them before the posting deadline. Plus I get a chance to use the festive supplies I bought in the after-Christmas sales!

Mind you, quite a few manufacturers have already released some festive supplies… will I get tempted to buy buy buy! You bet I will!

Anyway, for Christmas in July Day 2, I’m playing along with the sketch challenge over at The Paper Players.

As I’ve had a bit of a break from cardmaking, I kept my take on the sketch super simple using an oldie and goodie die (Wishing Trees) by Simon Says Stamp and some of my Basic Grey patterned paper mountain. The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.

Just Us Girls Guest Designer Week 4

Happy Saturday!

I have the honour of being June Guest Designer for the Just Us Girls challenge and today is my last GD post as it’s the last Saturday in June. I can’t believe it, the month has flown by! Thanks to all the lovely design team members who have been so welcoming and supportive!

This week is photo week and there’s a fun beachy/pineapple scene! When I saw it, I thought I would use a beach scene stamp as I don’t have any pineapple dies or stamps. Then I remembered my Taylored Expressions red rubber/cling pineapple layering set… I really struggled with it when I tried it and thought I’d never use it again, but for some reason I held onto it…. So I decided to give it another go….

I watched a how-to video by Taylor who made it look very easy and so, armed with acetate and my MISTI, I was determined to create a host of fun pineapple….

My first couple of attempts were OK, the position of the layers looked fine but I didn’t like the colours I used. Alas, when I found a colour combo that I liked, I messed up the stamping… SO. MANY. TIMES….. and always with THE. LAST. LAYER! Argh!

I had originally envisaged at least three pineapples on my card but I have to admit that I quickly changed my mind and stopped stamping as soon as I had one pineapple that that looked OK!

I used Tumbled Glass distress ink to create an oval in the centre of my card and stamped the sentiment from the set. I fussy cut my pineapple and added it to my card base with some heart gems to complete my CAS card.

And that stamp set? It has gone right into the ‘too difficult for LucieG’ box!!

Just Us Girls Guest Designer Week 3

Happy Saturday!

I have the honour of being June Guest Designer for the Just Us Girls challenge!

Time for a colour challenge this week – using the three primary colours plus one other. I knew I wanted to use a white card base but wasn’t sure if that would have to be the fourth colour… I went back over past colour challenges and saw that neutrals were allowed in addition to challenge colours so I then felt comfortable choosing another colour – green!

I kept my card super simple, using  just one die set (Memory Box’s Seed Stems), distress inks and lots of stickles! I added a Memory Box sentiment and will send this card to an old friend who has had a rather torrid 2022 so far.

June 2022 Get Cracking on Christmas

Hello everyone!

Maybe it’s because of the long Platinum Jubilee weekend at the start of the month, but I find it very hard to believe it’s actually the third Thursday of the month! It’s kind of ironic that it’s one of our hottest June days ever, but here I am creating a festive card for Jenn Shurkus’s ‘Get Cracking on Christmas’. Today I’m also playing along with this month’s CAS Christmas card challenge where the theme is ‘wreath’.

I pulled out an oldie but goodie Memory Box die called Frostyville Wreath and used it to cut a reject distress ink background! I added the Dancing Snowmen (also Memory Box/Open Studio) and a sentiment by My Favorite Things.

Of course, after I had assembled it, I remembered that I was going to use an embossed background.. by then it was too late (and far too hot in my craft room) to try to fix it!

Birthday circle

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

When I saw the sketch, I decided it would be perfect for the die fleur double by Simply Graphic! So I chose a couple of pieces of card and got crafty! I stencilled some Nuvo Moonstone paste on my card base and added a Memory Box sentiment plus a few gems to complete my take.

Thanks for stopping by!
