Christmas in July 2023 – Day 23

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 23 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Today I used a Spellbinders/Susan Tierney-Cockburn die set called Holiday Flora Pinecone and Evergreen Bough that I picked up in the sale a few months ago. I’m so grateful that Susan has made some amazing videos showing how to assemble these! The pine cones still took a while to create but I also tested out my new Waffle Flower Crafts grip mat when I coloured the scales – and it worked really well!

I used my fabulous Gemini embossing folder and a sentiment from My Favorite Things to complete my card.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 22

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 22 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge using products by Penny Black.

This week’s colour combo is green, fuchsia, terracotta and light grey. Having seen the inspiration photo, I was sorely tempted to create Christmas cactus but in the end, I decided to ink up one of my favourite Penny Black trees, Tannenbaum (40-262). How can this be dated 2013? I think it has stood the test of time and is a true classic!

I started by creating an ink-blended background with distress inks and then stamped the image, masking off various sections. I always love colouring the tree’s garland and I was sorely tempted to use little pompoms like I did for this card back in 2020, but in the end I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os and added a few gems.

The sentiment is from the Shine Upon You mini set (30-928)*.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 21

Happy Friyay everyone!

Welcome to Day 21 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

Super busy day = not much crafty time so I had to made a very quick card today.

I decided that it was time for another snowflake card so I flicked through all my dies and spotted this fabulous Mod Snowflake Bakcground die by Poppystamps. I don’t use it much because I have trouble getting a clean cut in some spots, but I loaded up with additional shims and cut some Craft Consortium paper with it.

I wanted to adhere it to a glittery backgound so I covered a panel in Nuvo glitter paste and then adhered the die cut on top when it was dry.

The sentiment is by Woodware.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

Today I wanted to play with my Poppystamps Holiday Mistletoe die. I thought I hadn’t used it since the Nightmare White on White Experience of 2020 but looking through my archives, I did actually use it in 2021 – how typical that I only remember the nightmare!

Anyway, today I cut it from some Craft Consortium ink drops paper and then coloured the stems brown with distress ink. I cut the berries from different paper and stuck them on top. I blended some Picked Raspberry and Crackling Campfire distress ink very lightly to create a central panel for my little arrangement. Once I adhered the stems in place, I added a Spellbinders bow and a sentiment also by Poppystamps.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 19

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 13 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with the theme challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

When I saw the theme was pets, I immediately thought of my Stampendous Kitty Claws wood-mounted stamp. I can’t believe it’s been FOUR YEARS since I last used him for this card. This time, I paired him with a Spellbinders embossing folder which I used for the centre strip. I saw that the embossing made the strip edges appear wonky so I hid them with a generous application of stickles!

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 18

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 18 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

Who remembers Quickutz? And Archivers? Remember their amazing collaborations? I remember getting them on Ebay and then being so excited to pick them up in person when I started going to Chicago for work. It was a bit of a trek to Archivers but always so worth it!

Today I’m playing with a die set from 2008. How can that be FIFTEEN YEARS AGO?! I was so excited to get this set! And I got coordinating paper as well – I’m sure I still have some of that left in my Chistmas box!

The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.
