Welcome to Day 11 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and more trees today!

I LOVE the Papertrey Ink Enchanted Forest stamps and dies that I picked up a few years ago, but I was shocked to see that I haven’t used them since this card in 2021. Well, that has changed and I’ve now got lots of trees in different colours all ready to go!

Today I paired the trees with the brand-new Winter Forest Background die that I picked up from the Heffy Doodle closing down sale.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 10

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 10 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and it’s time for a reindeer!

For today’s card, I paired a glittery Impression Obsession reindeer with an older October Afternoon snowflake stamp. I had originally intended to use the reindeer with a die-cut snowflake frame but then I thought of  stamping some background snowflakes. I found the stamp I had in mind immediately (and we all know that RARELY happens!) and got crafty!

I heat embossed it and then blended Salvaged Patina and Shaded Lilac distress inks. I adhered a few layers of brown card to the reindeer’s body to add depth to the image. I realised that I would be able to arrange the antlers if I just had that one layer of glitter card so I didn’t adhere card layers behind them – quite a relief really as they look quite intricate don’t they?!

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 9

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 9 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

Today I’m using a new-to-me die set, the Crochet Snowflake set by Birch Press Design. It was released in 2022 and I resisted getting it despite loving every single card made with it that popped up on my Instagram feed over the past 18 months! I finally caved earlier this year and I am so glad I did!

It’s another big layered set  but works well with a standard US sized-card which is slightly wider and shorter than a UK A6 card. I covered my card base with some My Mind’s Eye paper and then die cut the three layers using black shimmer card, gold textured mirror card and quartz glitter card. The snowflake base die also cuts a pattern into the card stock so I stuck those small pieces onto my card base.

To complete my card, I added a small die cut sentiment from a Moonstone set.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 8

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 8 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have a twofer to share.

I’ve been trying to talk myself out of buying a tree die set that I’ve liked since it was released last year. It quickly went out of the stock here in the UK and I forgot about it… but of course I have remembered it again and it’s in stock! BUT…. I have SO MANY tree dies and stamps that I just don’t feel that I can justify another set! In fact I have spent a fair chunk of my weekend crafty time proving to myself just how many sets I currently have by using them! So today is the turn of Spellbinders’ Tree Squiggle Etched die!

The die set has two trees that you layer to create a tree. For my first card I stamped a Woodware background stamp on my card base and adhered a silver die cut tree on top. I then added a sentiment by The Ton and a few glittery stars.

For my second card, I cut both dies twice – from glitter and mirror card and layered them all together. I really like the fullness of this second tree! I adhered it on to some old Bo Bunny patterned paper and added a sentiment from my go-to Mama Elephant set.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 7

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 7 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024.

I chose a fun snowman from a Simply Graphic die set for my focal point today…. and then spent AGES searching for a background stamp that I couldn’t find…. maybe I don’t have it after all… but the upside was that I found some supplies that I’d completely forgotten about and they will soon be making an appearance on a card.

In the end I chose a circle stamp from an older Altenew set for the background.

To complete my card, I added a Mama Elephant sentiment and some stickles.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 6

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 6 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024! Today I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown’s Sketch challenge.

I have to confess that it took me some time to create this card. I wanted to be true to my CAS style but there are a lot of panels in the sketch. Eventually I chose a subtle Taylored Expressions embossing folder to create two white background panels – they’re a bit difficult to see in the smaller photos, but they are there – promise!

I then added the beautiful Memory Box Frosty border that I trimmed a little plus additional die cut snowflakes and a sentiment from a very old Hero Arts wood-mounted set.
