Tulip Happy Thoughts

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

The combo this week is red, yellow and green – which I thought would be perfect for a little bouquet! To start, I embossed a white card panel with the Diagonals folder (65-019) and added some gold splatters.

Then I got stamping! The tulips are from the Overflowing set (31-062), coloured with distress reinkers and then cut with the coordinating die (51-822).  They turned out a lot darker than I usually colour but I decided to go with that rather than try to lift off a lot of colour.

I embossed a cup from the Brew-Tea-Ful stamp set (31-063) using distress oxide ink and clear powder. I coloured it with distress reinkers and used the coordinating die (51-823) to cut the image.

As I was playing around with a layout, I felt that the teacup needed something to ground it so I rummaged through my die collection and unearthed the Floral Strip die (51-530) – it’s such a beautiful die, I can’t believe I haven’t used it for a VERY long time! Anyway, I used it twice on this card to compensate for that oversight!

The sentiment is from the Happy builder set (30-973).

Kitty Family Portraits

Hello everyone!

I took a few days away from my craft room after the cardmaking frenzy that was Christmas in July. I was very happy to get back in there this weekend. Yesterday wasn’t too successful and I didn’t like what I was creating, so today I turned to the fabulous Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I was originally going to use the small embroidery hoops by The Greetery with flowers or birds, but then I decided on kitties! These mischievous felines are from the Sneaky Kitties die by Simon Says Stamp. I coloured them with distress inks and added some Craft Consortium paper to create walls for them to peek over.

The background embossing folder is by Stampin’ Up and I used a Newton’s Nook sentiment.

LucieG Christmas in July 2024 Challenge

Hi everyone!

Once again, I really enjoyed devoting a whole month to Christmas cards! I know my decision not to participate in challenges really helped – it freed me to create cards that I KNOW I’m going to send later in the year AND enjoy the process!

I generally ‘shopped my stash’ although I did end up using a lot of products that I bought in post-Christmas sales, so a lot of the dies and stamps were relatively new to me. And of course I had my Spellbinders’ Christmas in July goodies which I got just in time for the last couple of days!

Thanks to everyone who followed along and shared kind comments with me – I really appreciate all of you!

Have a great day!

Christmas in July 2024 – Bonus Day

Hello All!

Well it’s the  first day of August! I can’t believe Christmas in July is over!  I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge I set myself and I know I will be grateful to have all these cards in November when I will need them!

Anyway, as my Spellbinders Christmas in July package arrived yesterday, I carried on with my Christmas crafting so this is my Bonus Christmas in July card!

I used the fabulous Bibi Cameron Snowflake card Creator die set which I have coveted since it was released last year. This is one of those dies that I really wanted to see in real life before committing. Oh how I wish I still had one of the four bricks and mortar shops that I used to have within a 45 minute drive. Anyway, it was half price in the sale so I decided to get it. And it is BIG – 15cm point to point for the base. It quite an optical illusion though because this card doesn’t feel that bid.

I folded a sheet of A4 card in half and then hung part of the die over the crease – this way I still had a hinged card base after it was cut. I gave up a sheet of 6×6 holographic card for the detailed snowflake – which is surprisingly delicate! Once that was glued down, I decided that I wanted to add some more snowflakes rather than the foliage that comes with the set. I used Memory Box’s Star Snowflake Discs.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Many Merry Christmas Sentiments set, also a Spellbinders bargain. I have to confess though, I bought the whole set because of this particular sentiment which is so me!

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 31

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe it’s Day 31 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024! Where did the month go? As usual, I still have ideas (and supplies) that I haven’t used!

Of course, I couldn’t resist adding to my supplies during a Christmas in July sale! And my order actually arrived this morning so I have been able to create with it before July is out! Yay!

I chose the brand new-to-me Flowering Christmas Tree Burst 3D embossing folder by Spellbinders. I just LOVE this design, but it is on the large side so like the card I created for Day 25,  this is a larger card than I would normally send!

I went for bolder colours than my usual palette and darkened both of my pieces of coloured card with distress inks.

The tree die is by The Stamp Market and I added a few die cut flowers to reflect the embossed trees. The sentiment is an old Hero Arts wood-mounted stamp.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 30

Hello everyone!

It’s Day 30 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024! I was hoping that a Christmas in July crafty order would arrive this morning but sadly it didn’t… so I turned to my Plan B which I had started working on ‘just in case’.

The background is embossed with my beloved Pinecone Plethora folder and the main image is an oldie but goodie – the Antique Pine Label die by Memory Box. After colouring it with distress inks, I added a Simply Graphic berry die and a few cones from the Stampin’ Up Christmas Pinecone die set that I first used for this card.

After assembling the card, I felt the lower section needed a splash of that red mirror card so I added a few berries. I was a bit concerned that they aren’t attached to a stem but now looking at my photos, I think they work!

Of course the sentiment is from my go-to Mama Elephant set!
