Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect October 2024

Hi everyone!

Last weekend, I took part in the Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect Christmas event. I signed up for this event back in July after receiving my August event box which was amazing. You can read my thoughts about the August event here.

We did some amazing folding for Anett Gelencsér’s class. I managed to do just one Make and Take over the weekend – and it was using images from her stamp/stencil/die set combo.

Next up was one of my favourite cardmakers, Nichol Sphor. We focused on adding text to cards and although my ‘heat resistant’ acetate curled a bit, I enjoyed the techniques! Lea Lawson’s class was the last one of Day 1. We used a fabulous cookie set and I deviated a bit to use kraft card and distress oxides!

I didn’t do the guest company class (class 4), but these are the cards I made for Classes 5 and 6. I adore the foliage die/stencil set that Heather Hoffman used – I think it will become a staple in my Christmas crafting for years to come! And Jennifer Maguire’s class was a lot of fun – we made cards that I wouldn’t make by myself – and that is why I love these events so much as they are an opportunity to try something new!

I do plan to sign up for the next class. February 2025 seems a long way away but I’m sure it will creep up on us very quickly!

Filled pumpkin

Hello there!

Today I’m using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their recent Autumn release, So Very Grateful 2024, plus a few older products.

The beautiful Pumpkin Blooms die set (51-786) was the starting point for my card. At first I thought that I wouldn’t add much to the large pumpkin which measures about 8cm by 7cm at its largest points, but then I realised if I cut the top section off I could fill it with foliage and blooms!

I coloured the pumpkin first before using an edger from the Border Collection die set (51-717) to cut off the top. I layered it on top of the All in one Hexagon background die (51-816) and then the fun really began and I added die cuts from the following sets:

Leaf Layers (51-787) – also from the 2024 release

Pumpkin Parade (51-754)

Autumn Decor (51-653) – one of my all-time favourite sets – I adore that wheat die!

Pumpkins and Leaves (51-360)

I was really annoyed that I somehow managed to get a black mark on my pumpkin. I planned to disguise it with intentional ink splatters or gems but then decided that a well-positioned leaf would do the job very nicely! I also included the pumpkin top and a few more leaves.

To complete my card, I used a sentiment from the Autumn is Calling stamp set (30-863).

Fluttering Butterflies

Hello again!

Next up today is my entry in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge which has a fun combo of yellow, pink and orange.

I fell in love with the beautiful Pinkfresh Studios Fluttering Butterflies product suite in August when only the dies and washi tape were available here in the UK. Fortunately Bumbleberry’s got the stamps and stencils in stock in September and I grabbed them straightaway!

I can’t believe I haven’t managed to use them but when I saw this week’s colour combo, I knew it was finally time to play with them!

I used Altenew inks to colour the butterflies and a Spellbinders embossing folder to complete my card.

Ornament branch

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s  Freshly Made Sketches challenge using some products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

When I saw the sketch, I thought that I would hang a row of baubles in the top left corner and another image to the bottom right corner but then I found this beautiful Ornament Branch die (51-481) and pivoted to that! I coloured it with distress inks and layered it to another die cut to provide some stability as it’s a delicate image.

I stamped a sentiment from the Festive and Feathery mini stamp set (30-926) but felt that the panel still needed something to balance the greenery in the top left so cut a section of the Ornament Branch and used that.

To complete my card I added a star from the Christmas Wonderland die set (51-562) to the centre of the ornament.

Row of Birthday Flowers

Hello everyone!

A quick post today with my card which is my very late entry into the Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown challenges.

I used a beautiful Pinkfresh Studios set called Modern Botanicals for my take. This was a set that I received as part of the August Create and Connect set – it is so easy to colour with the coordinating stencils!

I didn’t have much crafty time to create this card so I didn’t add anything to the background – I would have liked to dry emboss it had time allowed. Instead I added a green strip to anchor the flowers, a few sequins and a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

I will be back a bit later with more photos – got to press publish now to hit the challenge deadline (hopefully)! (ETA – now added!)

Halloween Butterflies

Hello again!

Next up today is my entry in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge which has a beautiful and unusual combo of burnt orange, black and sage.

I saw this sentiment online over the weekend – I think it was Instagram, but I can’t find it again now. But anyway it really made me stop and think… I decided it would be perfect to create some colourful bats from patterned paper for this week’s challenge.

Believe me, if you had told me a few years ago, hey even 48 hours ago, that I would be making a BAT card, I would NEVER have believed you. The bats have clearly recruited an excellent publicist this year!

I actually thought I had a lot of bat dies but when I looked through my supplies they were generally small and coordinating dies. So I chose some from a Spellbinders Halloween set that I bought a few years ago and got cutting.

I printed the sentiment onto some mottle-effect card that I have had forever and cut it with an irregular circle die to create a moon.

This was super difficult to photograph in my photo box – I may try to take the photos again in natural daylight…
