Colourful congrats

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘use only a third’ and our sponsor is Winnie and Walter.

I often use the ‘one third’ guide to help me ensure my card is sufficiently CAS! Whenever I’m in doubt, I always try to mentally work out if I have ‘used’ a third of my card base in some way. In my mind, using one third or less = CAS!

I also try to ensure I vary my CAS designs as it’s easy to get stuck with a favourite/’go to’ design, One third doesn’t have to mean a rectangle/square/oval etc, it can be any shape. In fact, I even toyed with masking circles for this challenge!

Anyway, for my card, I masked off approximately one third of my card and blended some Distress Oxide inks (Abandoned Coral, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves) and added some water droplets. I used Winnie & Walter cutaways (dies) for the sentiment and the confetti.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by two Guest Designers Shay from Winnie and Walter and Ishani from Quillish. They both have some amazing creations on their blogs, so please drop by their sites!

I’m also linking this up to the current Anything Goes with Dies challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Seeing green… and aubergine

Happy Saturday everyone!

I made today’s card for a number of challenges – Freshly Made Sketches, Color Throwdown (green/eggplant/white) and the Memory Box challenge (green), although looking at it now, I think that green isn’t really prominent enough for the latter so I think I will have to try again for that challenge….

I was originally struggling a bit to find  a suitable aubergine colour for the Color Throwdown challenge and then I saw that a DT member had used Seedless Preserves distress ink. Problem solved! I masked off a square and did a bit of ombre ink blending. I cut the Memory Box vine die from a panel I’d created from Hero Arts liquid water colours mixed with perfect pearls – can you see the shimmer?

To finish of the card, I used one of my go-to sentiments from My Sentiments Exactly!

Blow out that bonfire!

Happy Friyay people!

I made today’s card using Jennifer McGuire’s fabulous distress oxide water painting technique – very quick and so much fun!

After stamping/embossing the wonderful candle stamp from Concord & 9th, I blended two shades of green (Lucky Clover and Evergreen Bough) and then ‘painted’ the flames and parts of the candles with water.

I stamped and embossed the Cas-ual Fridays sentiments onto vellum and attached it to the base card to finish it off. Isn’t that sentiment fun?! As the card was for my younger brother, I felt I could give this to him without causing TOO much offence!!!!

I don’t have many Cas-ual Fridays stamps as I’ve found them quite difficult to buy here in the UK, so I’m very happy that I can finally enter one of their challenges as the theme is ‘green’.

Have a great weekend, all!

Blended eggs

Hi everyone!

Happy Hump day! Can’t believe it’s Wednesday already, can you?

March is really busy for me with lots of birthdays, but I also enjoy making Easter cards as my Easter supplies get very little love during the rest of the year.

For this card, I used the Poppystamps Ribbon and Bow Egg die that I’ve had for ages, but never used, together with some smaller eggs from the Egg Cetera set.

I actually thought this card idea would be really quick but it ended up being anything but that! I didn’t like my first few ink blended eggs, and then after I had stuck everything down, I decided I didn’t like the background I’d chosen. Luckily everything peeled off easily!

I ended up using a background embossed with a fun folder from Carabelle Studio and I added a sentiment from Woodware.

I’m entering this into the current Time Out challenge (bold) and also the Poppystamps challenge (clean and simple).

Message from coral bunny

Hi there everyone!

Well today’s card certainly turned out a lot brighter than my usual choice of colours, don’t you think?! I decided to play along with both the Color Throwdown challenge (coral, green and kraft) and the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and somehow my card ended up on the brighter end of the colour spectrum, a bit outside my usual, more muted, comfort zone, but I guess challenges should push you too, shouldn’t they!

Anyway, this card was super easy to put together – I stamped the Reverse Confetti bunny in Abandoned Coral distress oxide ink and the cut it out with the coordinating die. Following the sketch, I cut a piece of My Mind’s Eye paper and adhered that to my base card , finishing it off with a strip of glitter paper. Once the card was assembled, I felt that kraft background needed something a little extra. As I’d already stuck  everything down, I couldn’t use my standard go-to’s (embossing/stencilling) so I pulled out a tiny bunny stamp and stamped it a few times using versamark. I do like this watermark effect and should use it more often!

I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge which has a fabulous mood board for Easter/Spring inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to my lovely mum!

Here’s the card I made her as she loves cats!! I’ve had this idea in my head since I made a box card at Simon Says Create last year! Bought the Lawn Fawn box die there – can’t believe that I haven’t got round to using it until now!

Anyway, I wish I could say that I used all my cat stamps when making this card, but I can’t! I seem to have amassed a fair collection over the years! The cat stamps here are from a Lawn Fawn set, a brand new My Favorite Things set that I only got yesterday and then my old favourite kitty stamp from MFT, pride of place in the front! The sentiment stamp is from Avery Elle.

I also decorated the two side flaps! So much fun!

I’m going to enter this into the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge (fun with dies). I have used products from a couple of other manufacturers, but Lawn Fawn dies/stamps feature prominently, so hopefully this is OK for the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!
