Day 9 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year!

Pink & Main was the Day 9 sponsor. I don’t have any of their festive stamps  but I decided to use the cute owl tags by Zsofi as my inspiration. The owl is by Stampendous and I also used a My Favorite Things sentiment plus some Lawn Fawn die cut snowflakes.

Day 8 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year!

Picket Fence Studio was the Day 8 sponsor – although I don’t have any of the festive products, I absolutely loved Tracey’s inspiration so I adapted the design for use with the products I have. I used a Tim Holtz stencil, a deer die by Simon Says Stamp and little tree by Flora & Fauna. The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

Celebrate the Season

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

Using regular distress inks and a spritz or two of water, I stamped the fabulous tree image from my most recent Hero Arts purchase, the fun Meowy Christmas set! I cut it out using the coordinating die and then coloured the baubles with Twinkling H2Os.

I then stamped the Mod Pattern Bold Print background stamp using Pumice Stone distress oxide ink and spritzed it with Pixie Dust. I die cut a square from the stamped panel and adhered it to my base card on top of a smaller square of glitter cardstock. I then adhered my tree using foam squares and applied some red Nuvo glitter drops to each ornament.

I was pondering how to reflect that horizontal strip at the bottom of the card and then I remembered my old Holiday Ribbons wood-mounted set – also by Hero Arts! I seriously can’t believe these were made in 2005! I think I got them much later than that though… Anyway, I stamped the sentiment in the same inks as the tree – it’s always a bit nerve-wracking to use a wood-mounted stamp at the end of a project but luckily it stamped beautifully. Phew!

Thank for stopping by!

Day 7 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year!

The sponsor for Day 7 was Sunny Studio Stamps. I don’t have many of their products and when I saw the tag that Joyce made, I decided to substitute the little lights for a fabulous ornament string by Penny Black. I kept the same colour combo and used my Twinkling H2o paints to colour the ornaments.

The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Adventurous kitty

Hello friends!

Today, I’m playing along with the current Color Throwdown Challenge which has another super combo – orange, brown, moss green and cream.

I decided to use an old favourite for my take – the Tree-heart stamp from Penny Black. I then spent a good few minutes over-thinking ‘moss green’. I have a Twinkling H2O paint that’s actually called moss green, but is much more of a yellow-green than the inspiration card. In the end, I settled on two shades of green Twinkling H2O and I think they worked well. Once I finished colouring, I decided I wanted to add a little something extra to the image… I came across the Poppystamps kittens dies and decided to use a couple, coloured after my parents’ cats…. one of whom has definitely been known to get himself stuck up a tree!

To complete my card, I added a few brown splatters and a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp.

Deck the Halls

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card with just one image; our optional twist is ‘shimmer’. Our sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs.

I heat embossed a gorgeous ornament image from Julie Hickey Designs and then coloured it with my Twinkling H2o paints. It really shimmers in real life, but it’s so difficult to capture in a photo! I fussy cut around the image and got to work on my card base.

I cut a piece of Hero Arts Nautical cardstock (such a fabulous navy cardstock) and applied a little distress oxide to the centre of the base to create a glow from the ornament. I then spritzed a layer of Pixie Dust across the card before adhering the ornament with foam pads. I then embossed a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Joyce, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!
