Grandma’s Teapot

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the current Color Throwdown Challenge where the beautiful combo is aqua, hot pink, kraft, and white.

I bought some of the brand new Memory Box and Poppystamps Spring 2020 dies last weekend and I was so excited to use them. I noticed the packaging was slightly different, making reference to the measures the company was taking to reduce packaging… and then I opened up the Grandma’s Teapot die and had such a shock! The die was so much lighter than usual and felt a bit flimsy, more akin to a Sizzix die in weight and materials. My immediate thought was that there had been a manufacturing issue. When I investigated the packaging, I saw that the dies are no longer 100% steel/produced in USA, even though the online stores are still marketing them as such. I’ve alerted my retailer to the change so they can update their website. I’m relieved that there wasn’t a manufacturing issue but I wish that I’d been able to read about the change from Memory Box/my retailer directly. Memory Box have always produced wonderful dies and they will always have a very special place in my crafty heart.

Anyway… back to my card at hand, I smooshed some Tumbled Glass and Frayed Burlap distress ink to my base card. I then used the teapot and also the older Brighton Flower Border dies with some of my Basic Greys papers. I have to confess, I spent quite a while arranging all those flowers! when I was happy, I adhered the die cuts to my card base and added a few Nuvo Drops and gems.

To complete my card, I stamped a Clearly Besotted sentiment!

I’m also entering this into the current Poppystamps challenge – floral fantasy.

Thank for stopping by!

Hello there little butterfly

Hi Everyone!

Next, I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!

I pulled out my older Basic Grey papers and got to work. I started by adhering the patterned paper banner to my card base and then used the Birch press Design Sparkler Butterfly to cut more Basic Grey papers. I added a butterfly body from a Memory Box butterfly die and completed my card with a Hero Arts stamped sentiment.

AAA Cards Maxi White Space challenge with metallic twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using as much white/empty space as possible. Out optional twist this time is ‘metallic’. Pink & Main is our sponsor.

When I saw the optional twist, I immediately thought of some of the very first cardmaking supplies I bought. Back in the day, I couldn’t afford many stamps and I think Sizzix were the only dies in town and they were totally outside my budget! So my cards used a lot of pre-made elements. I loved a lot of them and couldn’t part with them when stamping and die cutting became more accessible.

After a crazy hunt through my craft room, I eventually found my metallic embellishments in my last cupboard (isn’t that always the way?). I’d originally intended to emboss a rectangle using a die but my die cut the cardstock despite the rubber mat (I always have problems with this on my Gemini Junior). Anyway, I adapted my plan, added a piece of acetate behind the rectangle and adhered the embellishment. I finished off my card with a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Maria, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Altenew Inspiration Challenge

Hi there!

Happy Leap Day friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current Altenew Inspiration Challenge . I never usually play along with Altenew challenges but when I saw the inspiration colours, I thought they would work well with and idea I had for a freshly Made Sketches challenge. I started working on my card and suddenly my boiler broke down. Cue many days of just keeping warm, an very little crafting!

I finally picked up my half-made card again this morning. The sketch challenge is long over but I can still enter the Altenew challenge! So I finished off my card. I used the Leaf Canopy stamp set and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints. I added lots of splatters, not realising I’d also go them EVERYWHERE… including on my face! The patterned paper is from My Mind’s Eye and the sentiment is also by Altenew!

Thank for stopping by!

AAA Cards One Corner challenge with old supplies twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using one corner of your card base only; our sponsor is Uniko. We’d also love you to consider using your older supplies for this challenge – and that’s our optional twist!

I used the Williow Tree die from Memory Box for my card. It’s not from my oldest supplies – sadly none of them really fit with what I wanted to create for the ‘one corner’ challenge…. but it’s from 2016 so still 4 years old. I cut it from a panel I’d created using Distress Oxide inks and adhered it to my card base. I then added a few butterflies from Simon Says Stamp and a Clearly Besotted sentiment to complete my take on the theme.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Marga, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Happy Heart Day to you!

Hi there!

Happy Heart Day friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current Color Throwdown Challenge where the combo is lavender, green, and grey.

I used a Technique Tuesday edger die and some of my patterned paper mountain. You know I have a bit of a love-hate relationship when it comes to ‘lavender’ in CTD challenges – I can never find the ‘perfect’ shade… and now that I’ve photographed this card, the lavender looks more like dusky pink… Argh!

The sentiment is by Reverse Confetti!

Thank for stopping by!
