Wildflower Bouquet

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the CAS on Friday challenge which has the theme of ‘flowers’!

I really love all the bouquet dies that are around at the moment and just bought one by Marianne Designs which I decided to use for my card today. I must say, it’s actually much bigger than I was expecting but that meant that I could use some of my larger flower dies with it! For this card I reached for the beautiful flowers that Memory Box released about a year ago (Daisy Stems, Wildflower Stems, Lavender Stems, Seed Stems and Daisy Silhouette), which I coloured with distress inks and coloured pencil.

I added some stickles to the flowers and a Hero Arts sentiment to complete my card.

Nordic Trio

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink.

When I saw the sketch, I thought of some Marianne Designs dies that I got early last year – the set included a couple of test tube dies that I really wanted but somehow I never got round to using them!

Anyway, I cut the tubes from vellum and then came the challenge of choosing stems! My original planned flowers didn’t work – I think it’s because the tubes are close together. In the end, I used these wonderful Nordic Trio dies from Simply Graphic – I  think they work well with the layout of the tubes!

I added a sentiment by Memory Box and a few gems to complete my card.

Springtime table

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the The Card Concept challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black.

As soon as I saw the inspiration photo, I thought of my mum and her garden… I think it’s the hat as she always wears one when gardening. Anyway, she has a lovely wrought iron table on the patio so I decided to go with a springtime table for my card – and it should come as no surprise that the challenge design style that I chose is CAS – no layers here, just straightforward stamping and colouring and a bit of very soft ink blending!

I stamped and coloured the beautiful Springtime Table cling stamp (40-829) with my Twinkling H2Os – I’m so happy that I caught some of the shimmer in my second photo. I don’t seem to colour much these days, but I had such a wonderful, relaxing time colouring this scene! However, that was my big error of judgement! After spending so long colouring the image, I just froze! I was convinced that I would mess up my colouring! It seriously took me five days to psych myself up to stamp the sentiment! And even then I couldn’t decide which sentiment to use but in the end I went with one from the Love Big set (30-898).

Honeysuckle Bowl

Hello again everyone!

Next today is my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

For my take, I used Paper Rose Studio’s Honeysuckle Plant and a bowl from a Sizzix die set, all coloured with distress inks. The sentiment is my Whimsy Stamps.

This was a really interesting sketch to play with and at first I used the die cut bowl to represent the middle strip in the sketch, but I didn’t really like how it looked, but I was much happier when I added that third yellow strip!

Happy Mother’s Day 2022!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share one of the cards I gave to my lovely mum today!

My mum has been very keen to have purple crocuses in her garden this year and when I saw The Greetery’s new crocus botanicuts set, I knew it would be perfect for a Mother’s Day card for her!

I spent a while trying a lot of different ink combos – using regular distress inks and distress oxides. In the end I just used one colour (Villainous Potion Oxide) and simply applied it more lightly for some petals. I absolutely loved making these flowers and ended up with a HUGE bunch for her card!

I adhered them onto a circle of patterned paper and then added an Avery Elle sentiment and a few sequins to complete my card.

I’m entering this into a new-to-me challenge, Cardz for Galz, where the theme is Spring Flowers for Mother’s Day.

Butterfly Stem

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a palette of orange, green and tan.

I may have over thought the palette here and ended up learning all about different shades of tan online! In the end, I tried to match the colour in the inspiration picture and cut some patterned paper with a Greetery die for the background panel.

Anyway, I used an older Memory Box die, the Rylan Butterfly Stem, which is dated 2016 but I thought it was a bit older than that! I coloured it with distress inks and added some orange butterflies from Memory Box’s Butterfly Ensemble and inlaid them in the stem – they don’t fill the space completely, but I think they are a pretty good match!

The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.
