Spring and Easter

Daffodil delight

Hi there!

A few weeks ago I made a card to celebrate the arrival of the first daffodil of the year in my garden and I’ve been wanting to use the fabulous Spellbinders/Simon Hurley Daffodil Frame die set again.

So today was the day. I decided that I would use this card as my entry into the Spellbinders Cardmaking Star contest and wanted to just use Spellbinders products (although non-Spellbinders products were permitted).

Once again, I cut the main daffodils image from the frame and used it with the separate flower and leaf layers.

I created a pot using half of the central section from the Infinity Punch & Pierce plate and then coloured all images with distress inks.

I made a stencil from the Essential Stylish Ovals die set and lightly blended an oval on a white card panel. I then embossed the panel using the Flower Frenzy folder and arranged the die cuts. I added a sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments stamp set to complete my card.

Happy Mother’s Day 2024 – part deux!

Hello everyone!

Next up is the second of two cards I gave to my lovely mum today!

I recently picked up the Poppystamps Floral Vase Easel Pop Up set in a recent sale! I love the possibilities for this incredibly versatile set although I have to confess that this card took me MUCH longer to make than I had anticipated. And I used LOADS of different distress inks! My craft table looked like it had been hit by a tornado!

The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set.

Happy Mother’s Day 2024!

Hello everyone!

Here is the first of two cards I gave to my lovely mum today!

This card was created with products kindly sent to me by Penny Black from their new Scent of Spring release. I started with a fabulous image from the Scent of Spring clear stamp set (31-049). I love that they have another iteration of their beautiful autumnal brolly that I used last September! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and then fussy cut it.

I then cut a piece of white card using the new All-in-one Octagon (51-816) and adhered a small panel of blended distress ink behind the ocatgon before adhering it to a square card base. I added the Ocatgon frame and brolly using foam tape before stamping a sentiment created from stamps from The Sweetest mini stamp set (30-294).

Finally I added a few butterflies from one of my favourite sets – Flourish and Butterflies (51-198).

I’m entering this into the March Flower Challenge where the theme is ‘Make a Square card’.

Nordic Tulip Wishes

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge where the colour palette is peach, sage green and cream.

I decided to showcase a couple of new die sets that I just bought – the Nordic Flower Pot and Stems set and the Nordic Pattern Rings set by Poppystamps. I coloured the stems and pots with distress ink (Bundled Sage and Antique Linen) and added some tulip toppers cut from older Memory Box sets and coloured with Dried Marigold distress ink.

I arranged the flower pots on the Nordic Pattern Rings and then added a sentiment from a Memory Box stamp set to complete my card.

Spring Backyard Florals

Hi there!

There’s a really interesting sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge – and I almost didn’t play along…. but I managed to think of a way of using it at the 11th hour!

My focal point is the beautiful Backyard Floral Stems die by Memory Box and I added strips of paper from a Craft Consortium pad.

The sentiment is also by Memory Box.

Soooo…. after posting my entry for the challenge, I decided to change out the strip on the left side for something a little reddier which I feel fits better with the undertones in the other strips, Here’s the originals – which do you prefer??

Stencilled Chicks

Hello everyone!

Today I finally played with a stencil set that I’ve had since August – the amazing Layered Chicks set by Pretty Pink Posh. Oddly just after I bought it an amazing Easter card using that very set popped up in my Instagram feed (in August!!). Fast forward six months and can I find it again? Nope…. well yes I did but only after a LONG search! Here is Barbara’s amazing card! I’m so perplexed that it didn’t show up in my Google search or in any of the manufacturer hashtags! Most odd!

For my take I used lots of different distress inks plus a Heffy Doodle sentiment die; the ‘Happy’ is from a Simon Says Stamp stamp set.

I’m entering this into the stencil week challenge at Just us Girls.
