Spring and Easter

Daffodil Wreath

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at The Paper Players.

I love that one of the colours this week is called ‘Daffodil Delight’ and so I just had to include them in my card! My new Marianne Designs daffodil die arrived this morning so I jumped at the chance to play with it straight away. I paired it with a Honey Bee Stamps Grapevine die that I cut twice. All die cuts are coloured with distress ink.

I used an older WRMK 3D embossing folders – I always think of these as the original 3D embossing folders, they really took embossing folders to the next level!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from an older set by Neat & Tangled.

Sparkly Forsythia

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the March Four Seasons Challenge which has a fabulous spring inspiration board! One of the photos that caught my eye when I looked at the board was a beautiful vase of forsythia and as my forsythia bush has just burst into bloom, I knew I wanted to focus on that!

I used Penny Black’s beautiful Delicate & Dainty cling stamp (40-510)! I love this stamp but I haven’t used it much since I bought it five years ago… seriously, how can it be five years – I remember creating this card with it as if it was yesterday!

Anyway, back to this card. I lightly blended some distress ink and then stamped the image with Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide. I coloured the image using two shades of yellow gouache and then added a sentiment from the Thinking of You clear stamp set (30-825). I added a frame cut with the largest die from the Stitched Frames die set  (51-709), some yellow Nuvo drops, sequins and pearls.

Waltham Egg card

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of pink, lime green and grey.

When I saw the inspiration photo, I really wanted to play with my Kitsch Flamingo distress ink, which I felt would be perfect, especially as I haven’t used the colour very much as I tend to gravitate towards the pastels. However, I also had an idea for the Waltham Egg by Memory Box and went with it. I decided to colour the foliage on the egg with my Twinkling H2Os rather than the distress ink so Kitsch Flamingo stayed in my drawer.. again! I did use Hickory Smoke for the egg background.

Anyway, after assembling the egg, I adhered it to a panel that I’d embossed using Simon Says Stamps’ Splendid Leaves embossing folder and added a few white branches cut with the Memory Box viburnum branches. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

A Nest of Speckled Eggs

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the spring challenge at The Paper Players.

When I saw the challenge graphic, my eye was immediately drawn to the little nest  and knew that it was time to pull out my Easter dies! I bought the Twiggy Nest die by Memory Box back in 2020 and only used it once or twice last year, so I’m determined to show it more love this year! I paired it with the Poppystamps Whittle Eggs which I cut from a panel of card that I’d covered in Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink. I don’t recall using Speckled Egg ink for my Easter cards last year… not sure why as it’s clearly the perfect colour!

I smooshed some Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink on my card base and splattered some Speckled Egg ink. Finally I added a Memory Box sentiment.

Spring Window

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Today’s card of for the embossing folder challenge called ‘Can You Handle the Pressure‘ where the twist is spring.

I’ve used the beautiful Domed Window Folder by Memory Box – it embosses a beautiful window frame and also cuts out the window panes too. I waited a LONG time for this one (bought in October and finally arrived in January), but it was worth the wait.

I created a window box using the fabulous Springtime Border (Memory Box) plus the Grand Flower Box (Poppystamps). As I was assembling the card, I felt it was lacking a little something so I added a little Simply Graphic kitty!

The sentiment is also by Memory Box.

Falling cherry blossom

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I love that this week’s sketch is so open to interpretation – leave that big central panel blank.. or use an embossing folder… or add a focal point… or… I had so many ideas!

In the end, I chose to use some of my patterned paper mountain and the Stamp Market’s Ready to Bloom cover die.

The sentiment is from an old Simon Says Stamp set.
