Spotlight on you

Hi there!

The theme for this month’s Seven Hills Crafts challenge is ‘spotlight it’ and here is my entry. Honestly, I had all month to come up with something and I only just made it before the challenge deadline!

Anyway, for my card, I used two products from Seven Hills Crafts – a stencil from Echo Park and a sentiment from Winnie & Walter. I masked off the heart as I was stencilling with grey shades of distress ink and then used the reverse of the mask when it was time to add the colour to the heart.

To finish off the card, I added the sentiment and a few clear sequins. A super simple card, but the technique is so effective, don’t you think?

Kaleidoscope card

Hello everyone!

I loved seeing how the super-talented Debby Hughes used the Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope stamp and she was my inspiration for this card.

After embossing the image in white, I coloured over it with four distress inks (spiced marmalade, picked raspberry, abandoned coral and frayed burlap) and then added a coat of Gansai Tambi light gold. It created such a fabulous shimmer! I’ll definitely be using it more often!

I added some vellum and a yellow/orange panel that I had embossed with a Studio Carabelle embossing folder. I added a Lawn Fawn sentiment and lots of sequins to finish it off!

I’m entering this into the current Case This Sketch challenge and also the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – ’emboss like a boss’!

Gilded Hello

Hello!

I went to the Big Stamping and Scrapbooking Show at Alexandra Palace for the first time in a long time today! There were definitely far fewer exhibitors on site compared with the last time I went. I guess that reflects what’s happening to the industry here in the U.K…..but there were some fabulous companies there and I managed to buy a few goodies…..

I put some of them to use straightaway – I made this card using my new Clarity Stamp stencil. I applied Versamark ink using a sponge blending tool and then added some Ranger sticky embossing powder. It stays sticky for a decent amount of time after heating and so I applied some fabulous gilding flakes from Crafty Notions. Aren’t the flakes pretty? Such different colours too – but they were hard to photograph! Anyway, I finished off the card with a nice bold Winnie & Walter die.

Fabulous You!

Hi everyone!

So today I stepped away from the Simon Says Stamp Fractile Leaves set and played with some of my other new Stamptember goodies – including the gorgeous Fabulous You set by Altenew for Stamptember.

I must say, I found this set very easy to use and just created this very quick card using Altenew inks, some distress inks and my Twinkling H2Os, stickles and some sequins to add a bit of sparkle. Looking at it now thought, I’m wondering if I added too many ink splatters to the background?

I’m entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – ‘stamp it’.

Get well wishes

Hi everyone!

There’s a really strong colour combination for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge – red, black and white. My mind was whirring with so many possibilities for my take on this!!

In the end, I decided to use the sketch from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I cut a circle from a black panel and used my Nuvo aqua shimmer pen to add a bit of shimmer to the white background exposed by the circle. I used an older Memory Box die to cut some glittery red paper and attached this to my card. Finally I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment to finish it off.

Shimmery flowers

Hi everyone!

There’s a colour challenge over at the Less is More challenge blog this week – royal blue and lime green and here is my entry!

I masked off a section of card and stamped a beautiful Penny Black image which I then coloured with my Twinkling H2Os.

I added a few Nuvo drops plus a glittery Poppystamps die but still felt my card was missing ‘something’. So I added some shimmer to the background of the stamped panel using my Nuvo Aqua shimmer pen. Really loved how it turned out!

I’m also entering this into the current challenge at The Flower Challenge blog (tic-tac-toe – I chose  the bottom row – white – die cuts – blue).
