Seaside Thank You

Hi there everyone!

I loved the last Paper Players sketch challenge and had an idea for it all set up in my head. Then life got in the way so I missed the challenge deadline, but decided to go ahead with my idea anyway using Penny Black products.

First of all, I stamped the beachy wreath from Seashells set (30-843) in a light ink and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints. Then I put the coloured image back in my MISTI, stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it using white pearl embossing powder! I fussy cut the wreath before starting on my tag, which is from the Tagged die set (51-007). I sponged it lightly with distress ink and them popped the wreath on top to work out where to place the sentiment. After stamping the sentiment from the Ever Thanks set (30-813), I adhered the wreath to the tag and then the tag to my card base.

I felt like the card was still missing something and so I decided to add some small shell embellishments. I had so much fun creating these with shrink plastic! I haven’t used it for years! I ended up using the same ink for the shells and sentiment as lighter inks just didn’t seem to show up at all, which was odd as colours usually intensify when you heat shrink plastic.

Little white Willoughby butterfly

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is ‘white focal point’.

Once I decided on my design and dies, I got to work blending a central oval. I die cut the Asti and Willoughby Butterfly wings dies from white card and white glitter card and adhered them all together. I worked out where I would position the butterfly before stamping the Altenew sentiment. After adhering my butterfly, I added a few baby sequins and hey presto, my card was finished!

Sounds simple doesn’t it! Believe me, the making of this card was certainly NOT a smooth process! This was actually my fourth attempt at the SAME card for this challenge. After messing up the stamping twice, when I went to write this blog post, I realised that I had inadvertently used POPPYSTAMPS dies for the card I had made specifically for for a MEMORY BOX challenge! Argh! As I was well-practiced with this design, I simply made it a fourth time with different inks and dies! You can see the other card here!

Little white Samirah butterfly

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the CAS on Friday challenge where the theme is ‘butterfly’.

Once I decided on my design and dies, I got to work blending a central oval. I die cut the Poppystamps Murana and Samirah Butterfly dies from white card and white glitter card and adhered them all together. I added an Altenew sentiment. and a few baby sequins to complete my card!

Ah, what an edited version of a rather frustrating cardmaking process! First of all, I originally blended an oval onto a creased card base that kept on springing open. This resulted in the card moving slightly in the MISTI and so my sentiment go smudged. Can you believe I went through this process TWICE before I realised I needed to use a different card base! Honestly.

But that wasn’t the end of the story! Oh no, when I went to write my blog post, I realised that I had inadvertently used POPPYSTAMPS dies for the card I had made specifically for  for a MEMORY BOX challenge! Argh! So I decided to enter this into the CAS on Friday challenge and create a twin card using Memory Box dies for the Memory Box challenge. You can see that card here.

I’m also going to link up this card to the Anything Goes challenge on the Poppystamps blog.

Blue Flower Vine

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This is very similar to the card I made for the Two Quarters challenge at AAA Cards a few weeks ago, although one of the shaded areas is definitely smaller than the other! Plus I don’t have to get my ruler and calculator out for this one!

The Altenew Flower Vine stamp and die set have been sitting on my table since I made a card for the Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog hop a few weeks ago. It’s such a pretty set, but like so many stamp sets, I’ve rarely used it since I bought it in early 2019. I thought it would be perfect for the sketch challenge. I coloured it with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints and added  some blue splatters and baby sequins too.

I’m also going to add this to the link up over at the Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog hop.

Beverly Vine

Hi there!

Next up today is my card using the current sketch from the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge!

I had a lot of ideas for the sketch but when I sat down at my craft table, I saw the fabulous Poppystamps Beverly Vine die that I took out a couple of weeks ago but I ended up not using! So today was its chance to shine!

I coloured the image with distress inks and added detail with a Prisma pencil. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

I’m also entering this into the current Poppystamps challenge where the theme is anything goes!

AAA Cards One Inch Strip

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using a one inch strip only. Our optional twist for this challenge is ‘coloured card base’!

I wanted to use one of my border dies for this card – quite a few were wider than an inch but this old Poppystamps Bubble Daisy Border die was well under an inch, which meant I’d have room for a sentiment too. Yay!

I decided to do some inlaid die cutting so I cut the image four times – once in white then once again in the colours for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (red, yellow and blue). I originally wanted to adhere it to a kraft card base, to follow the optional twist, but I actually preferred the daisy chain on a white background. The colours popped a little more! To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Clearly Besotted.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, and another of my favourite cardmakers, Janet – go check out her blog, it’s so inspiring!!

Hope you can play along with us!
