Snowflake Josefina Butterfly

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘let it snow’.  Can you believe I started working on this card at the beginning of January and only just got round to assembling it! This month has flown by!

I took a slightly different approach to my card and used the Snowflake Screen with the Josefina Butterfly dies to create a snowflake butterfly! I used an old inky panel for the snowflakes and cut the butterfly from vellum before adhering and then trimming the snowflake screen to size. The butterfly body is from Birch Press Design’s Butterfly Basics set.

I wanted to use this fabulous Memory Box embossing folder for my card base but felt that the butterfly needed a little something to ground it so added some silvery thread and a few sequins. The sentiment is by Memory Box.

Distress watercolour flower garden

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

All older Hero Arts products today! I used the beautiful Flower Garden Fancy die which I coloured using my brand new distress watercolour pencils. I definitely need to practice more with them!

For the strip, I used a stamp from one of my older wood-mounted sets. I had to join up the stamped ribbon to make the strip a little longer. I’ll admit it took me a couple of attempts, but I got there!

Hello with stitched burst background

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along the Color Throwdown which has a fabulous palette of is grey. navy and white.

I didn’t own any stitching dies until a few weeks ago when I spotted this beautiful background die in the Spellbinders sale. When I saw the combo, I just had to try it out – luckily I had some grey thread to hand!

I adhered the stitched panel to a white card base and chose a shadow sentiment to add a bit more white to my creation! The die is by Birch Press Design.

Tree-heart love

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with one of my favourite colour challenges – the Color Throwdown using some of my favourite Penny Black products.

This week, the colour combo is red, green and brown and I was SORELY tempted to make a Christmas card! In the end though, I decided to use one of my favourite Penny Black cling stamps – Tree-Heart (40-505). You can see a couple of my older creations here and here! Isn’t it funny that I also made them for Color Throwdown challenges?!

Today, I embossed the main image and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints and added some splatters. I cut a couple of strips brown card using a die from the Lovely Border frames set (51-484) and adhered them to my square card base. Finally I added a sentiment from the Special Sentiments set (30-574 ).

Wispy Trio

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Last year I mentioned that I had coveted Birch Press Design’s Wispy Blooms Contour Layers die set from the moment I first saw it! Of course I used it a couple of times and then neglected it! But this week I was reminded of this card and even though I should be concentrating on winter cards to send out, I just HAD to play with it again.

After playing around with distress ink and water colour paints, I chose to use flowers cut from coloured paper. I paired them with a beautiful Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and added a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment to complete my card.

Wrens say hello

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

And also, welcome to Lucieg’s Adventures with a Light Tent! Today, I played around with the white balance on my DSLR and also the backdrops. I’m happier with the photos I took today, but I think I still have a way to go…. it will be a process.

Anyway, on to my card…. today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches AND using up a few unused new purchases from 2022!

Last year, I bought the beautiful Robin and Wren layered stamp set by The Greetery – which I planned to use a lot in the run up to Christmas, but life got in the way! However, I finally got to play with the set between Christmas and the New Year – I’m so grateful that Betsy, The Greetery’s owner, shared some tips about how to set up the images – once they were all set up in my Misti, I could just play with various different colour combos. So. Much. Fun!

I chose a couple of the birds for my take on the sketch plus some die cut Greetery Nordic Circles and a fun Honey Bee branch. I adhered all my die cuts to a panel that I had embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Delicate Pine folder and added a Sugar Pea Designs sentiment to complete my card.
