Blooming 2022

Hello everyone!

Today I’m sharing some cards I made with Penny Black’s Blooming 2022 release. Penny Black kindly sent me these products back in mid May and having reached London very quickly, they headed straight out of the country again!! They summered in Brazil for a few months before beginning their journey again – this time to Miami where they spent a few more weeks! But they finally got to me last week and I am so pleased – it was such a beautiful release and had so many die sets that I was excited to create with.

First up is my ‘Splendid Tattered Rose’ card. I created a panel from a Tattered Rose distress oxide and cut it with dies from the Splendid dies set (51-739). I just adore the bud die, which I think could also be used as leaves! The sentiment is from the So Thankful stamp set (30-914).

I then turned my attention to the Courier die set (51-734). I have to confess that I was a little intimidated by the size of the bird, but he was super easy to colour with distress inks! The die set includes a branch but I wanted to add more colour so included the beautiful Whisper die (51-737), also coloured with distress inks. The sentiment is from the Thinking of You stamp set (30-825).

As soon as I saw the release, I wanted to try the pretty Duet die (51-736). I actually spent a long time playing with it this weekend, so you’ll probably see it make an appearance in more cards soon! For this card, I coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints. I adhered it to some card that I had cut with the Wavy Stitch Edges die (51-418) and added a sentiment from the Grateful Heart set (30-467).

Last but definitely not least is my card using the gorgeous An Impression die set (51-735). I love this set – it’s so versatile! I particularly love those leaves/fronds! For this card, I lightly stamped the Brick Wall cling stamp (40-137) on my card base first before adhering the die cuts and adding a sentiment from the Big Love stamp set (30-898).

Looking forward to Autumn decor

Hello everyone!

Next up today is my card for the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using the colour palette from the Color Throwdown challenge and products by Penny Black.

After our very hot summer, I am totally ready for autumn with its cooler temperatures, beautiful colours and of course all the pretty decorations! So when I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of the wheatsheaves from the  Autumn Decor die set (51-653) that I bought a few years ago! This is such a versatile set – I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it in 2020 and basically stalked our UK retailer’s online store for weeks!! Anyway, I decided to use it with the Color Throwdown’s combo of mustard, navy blue and turquoise – I know that’s not a traditional palette for wheatsheaves, but it’s a lot of fun! I used distress inks to colour my die cuts, although surprisingly I ended up using Fossilised Amber rather than Mustard Seed as I felt the latter was a bit too bright.

The sentiment is from the Banner Sentiments stamp set (30-423).

With Love Butterfly Wreath

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using the colour combo from this week’s CAS Colours and Sketches colour challenge.

When I saw the sketch, I thought about using a snowflake die for the focal point. But then I spotted my beautiful Memory Box Butterfly Wreath when I was looking for something else and decided it was time to use it again. This is from 2016, although it feels like I’ve had it longer…!!

I cut the butterflies from cardstock panels made from regular distress ink and then splatterd gouache over them. I adhered the wreath to a cardbase that I’d embossed using a Creative Expressions folder and added a sentiment from a Moonstone die set.

Aqua Hollyhocks

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge.

I’ve been wanting to play with my new Hollyhocks Botanicuts dies set by The Greetery for a while – it came arrived just as I was getting into Christmas in July so has been sitting in my ‘new box’ since then. I don’t think I have ever seen aqua hollyhocks in real life but hey anything is possible in our little crafty world, eh!

I paired the die set with an older Tonic Studios sentiment die and added some sequins and Nuvo glitter drops to complete my card.

A Quick hello card

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge .

I didn’t have much time to make this card so I chose a very quick interpretation of the sketch using a die cut from the Altenew Itty Bitty Branches set and a couple of distress oxide inks. The sentiment is by Karen Burniston.
