Happy 600th Sketch!

Hello again everyone!

Today I am truly honoured to be celebrating an amazing milestone with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge team and a group of super talented players! Today is challenge number 600!

I enjoy playing along with card challenges and Freshly Made Sketches is one challenge that I always try to play along with whenever I can. I love how different the sketches are and the DT and other players’ cards are always soooo inspiring!

I discovered the challenge in 2016 – I was just on instagram back then but I’m pretty sure that this was the card I made for my first challenge entry – challenge number 261! (I actually unearthed this after I made my card for this week – it made me smile to see that my entry back then also had a dry-embossed strip!)

For today’s fabulous sketch, I chose the Floral Cluster die by Poppystamps which I coloured with distress inks. After adhering it to a die cut circle, I embossed a grey strip with a Simon Says Stamp folder, added a sentiment by My Favorite Things and a few die cut butterflies by Poppystamps and Simon Says Stamp.

Color Throwdown Guest Designer

Good morning everyone!

This week, I have the honour of being the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown Challenge.

The palette for this challenge is grey, aqua and green, such an interesting combination, don’t you think?

It took me a little time to come up with a design – and I ended up using so many different manufacturers on this card – a Tim Holtz stencil, dies by Spellbinders and Birch Press Design and a sentiment stamp by Concord & 9th!

There’s some amazing inspiration from the Color Throwdown DT over on the challenge blog – I do hope you can play along this week!

Corner Butterflies

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I originally planned to use a leafy corner die for my take on the challenge – but then I decided to go with a couple of Memory Box butterflies instead! I used the Drifting Side Butterfly and the smaller Flitter Side Butterfly cut from Craft Consortium paper and white glitter card. I lightly applied Salvaged Patina distress ink to ground the butterflies but felt the card still need a little something so I embossed the background using the Spellbinders Flower Frenzy embossing folder.

The sentiment is by Concord & 9th.

Vellum Birthday Blooms

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing with the new Petals die set (51-777) kindly sent me by Penny Black.

I started by adhering some patterned paper to my card base and then cutting a load of flowers from vellum. I added some lines to the reverse of each petal with an embossing tool to give some shape to each flower. After adhering them to the card base, I added the centres cut from glitter and pearlescent card.

The sentiment from the Special Sentiments stamp set (30-574).

Expressive

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge where the colour combo is red, blue, brown and white.

I have been wanting to play with the beautiful Expressive cling stamp (40-897) that Penny Black kindly sent me and this challenge provided the perfect opportunity! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and then masked it off so that I could sponge a distress ink background.

The sentiment is from the Trust Me Builder set (30-710).

Big Flowery Butterfly card

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge. When I saw the combo, I felt I had used it very recently so I had a look back at my archives and found this card and this one. I guess 2021 is quite some time ago now! Still, I wanted to do something different this time so I turned to the new-to-me Butterfly Card Creator die set by Spellbinders! I was inspired by this card by Yana Smakula to dig through my other Spellbinders die sets and use flowers and foliage from those sets rather than the ones that came in the Creator die set.

It took me far longer than it should have to arrange all the images but this was such fun to make! The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.
