Time to Celebrate!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘Celebrate!’ and Happy Little Stampers is our sponsor.

For my card I used one of my old wood-mounted Amuse Studio stamps. I love using it for celebratory cards! Anyway, after I embossed it, I blended some distress ink to create the background and added some light shadows using a Prismacolour pencil.

I decided to use a black card base for added impact so once I decided where the image was going to go, I embossed a small Penny Black sentiment. I stuck the image on to my card, but felt that the card still needed ‘something’. After pondering for a while, I decided to added a banner that I’d cut from some gold mirror card – which I think finishes the card off quite well!

Yay! You did it!

Hello everyone!

For today’s quick card, I used a Studio Carabelle embossing folder together with a Cathy Zielske/Simon Says Stamp die.

I added lots of Nuvo Jewel drops but felt my card still needed a little something extra, so I added a Neat & Tangled sentiment which I embossed onto black card using some Hero Arts white detail embossing powder.

I’m entering this into the latest Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – ‘Emboss like a boss’!

First galaxy card

Hi everyone!

The theme for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is ‘Written in the stars’. I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to attempt my first galaxy background. There are some amazing galaxy cards on Instagram and I have been itching to give it a go.

It turned out to be super easy and incredibly quick!

Step 1

I used a few bright distress inks to create my first layer. I didn’t worry too much about smoothing out the blending as I knew any uneven patches would be hidden by the next layer.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

 Next, I added a layer of dark ink – I chose to use Black Soot Distress Oxide. On reflection, maybe this could have been a bit darker. I’ll see what that’s like next time I do a galaxy background.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3

I added some splashes of water to give the impression of distant light. I decided that OI wouldn’t add any white splatters to this background as I was going to be adding a busy die cut to the foreground. Otherwise, I would definitely add them!

 

 

 

 

 

To finish the card, I added a Technique Tuesday die cut, a Dienamics frame and a sentiment from Hero Arts.

Hi Everyone!

This week’s Casology challenge theme is ‘square’ and here is what I came up with!

I cut an inked background with a Memory Box die and inlaid the pieces into the frame that I’d cut from glitter paper. I really wanted to add more bling, but I’m hoping to add this to my woefully small supply of male cards, so I just stamped a simple sentiment from Hero Arts to finish it off.

You Nailed It!

Happy Friyay!

This week’s theme for the Less is More challenge is ‘use a real object’. I’ve been doing a lot of DIY recently so I decided to go with a nail! I wanted to use the phrase ‘you nailed it’ but I don’t have a stamp of that – although I bet I will find it in one of my stamp sets tomorrow! Anyway, I printed it off on white card on my home printer and then stamped the Altenew ‘yay’ above it using Delicata black shimmer ink – it is so shimmery in real life!

I used a die from the Hero Arts 12 point star set as the focal point and then stuck the nail on it using some washi tape…. not sure how long it will hold!

I then stuck the panel on a background that I had embossed with a Sizzix/Tim Holtz folder.

Glittery Yay

Hi There!

The Freshly Made Sketches challenge is celebrating 300 sketches this week and here is my take on their fabulous sketch.

I used a die from Clearly Besotted, plus a Tim Holtz/Sizzix embossing folder and patterned paper from My Minds Eye.

After cutting out the ‘yay’, I coated it with sparkle embossing powder – this card really sparkles in real life – will add a close up later!
