Christmas, New Year and Winter

Sparkling Snowflake

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is Sparkle (perfect for this time of year) and our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers. This challenge will run for four weeks over the busy festive period so it’s open until 6 January 2018. (2018! What happened to 2017?)

I had so many ideas for my card – mainly involving glitter paper/glitter paste/sparkle embossing powder! But none of them turned out how I wanted! So I kept it super simple and chose one of my favourite Memory Box dies from a few years ago. I cut my card base with the die and simply added some holographic paper behind it rather than attempt inlaid die cutting!

I ummed and ahhed about adding a sentiment and in the end I decided against it. At the moment, it can be used as a card for a friend who doesn’t celebrate Christmas, or a thank you card, or anything really. Besides, I can always add a sentiment when I use it! In reality I think I will simply leave it as is when I send it!

It’s been really grey here recently, but I was so pleased that the sun emerged very briefly when I finished making the card. Perfect for showing off the holographic sparkle! Isn’t it pretty?

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Bharati from Handmade Happiness. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Merry Little Rudolph

Happy Friyay!

My Festive Cardmaking Frenzy continues, but the end is in sight!

I realised that I had shared a lot of tree cards. I have so many other festive stamps and dies that I really HAVE to use this season!

So here is a quick CAS Rudolph card using a cute die from Poppy stamps and an older stamp from Amuse Art.

I rarely stamp on base cards with my older wood block rubber stamps nowadays so I was particularly chuffed that I managed to stamp this so straight – first time!

Swirly glitter tree

Hello Everyone!

Christmas is getting closer and I’m getting near the end of my festive card making frenzy!

The Less is More colour challenge this week is traditionally festive – red and green! Here is my take using a Simon Says Stamp die. The greeting is from a set by My Sentiments Exactly.

I’m also entering this into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (anything goes) and the Simon Says Stamp Fickr challenge (Christmas).

Merry Christmas Tidings!

Hi everyone!

This week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge inspired me to look through my oval dies – and I found an older Memory Box die which I thought would be perfect for the challenge! It’s a really substantial die, so I rotated the sketch to create a landscape card.

I cut some regular white card stock using the die and then used some distress inks to colour the snowflake and the bird. I then coated the remaining white card in Stickles.

While the die cut was drying, I softly blended more distress ink onto the base card so that the whole die cut would stand out a little more.

After adhering the image, I added another snowflake to reflect the sketch challenge.

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box Challenge – ‘holiday greetings’.

Blue and green challenge

Hi there!

It’s been a while since I played along with the Merry Monday challenge! This week was a colour challenge – blue/green/white or silver or vellum. I always find blue and green rather difficult to use. Not sure why, I just do! So I decided I should play along this week!

I used a cute die from Poppystamps – but once I’d cut the card, I realised the glitter snowman just didn’t stand out enough against the regular whit card stock, so I added a little bit of distress ink to define him a little more. I love how glittery this card is!

Merry Bauble Tree

Happy Saturday everyone!

I’m spending the day in my craft room, making my Christmas cards! I am determined to get them done before the last posting date….

For this card, I used some glitter cardstock from DCWV and dies from Poppystamps and Savvy Stamps. I stuck the tree onto a vellum base before adhering it to a panel made from a piece of Bazzill Bling cardstock.

I’m entering this into the current Casology challenge (round) and also the Color Throwdown challenge (black, white, gold, grey).

Thanks for stopping by!
