Christmas in July 2021 – Day 2

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 2 of Christmas in July 2021!

Today I’m playing along with the current sketch challenge over at The Paper Players . For this very CAS take, I used the fabulous Poppystamps Whittle Reindeer die with a Memory Box sentiment and a Creative Expressions embossing folder.

Christmas in July 2021 – Day 1

Hello everyone!

It’s that time of year again! LucieG’s Christmas in July! Woohoo! For the past couple of years, I’ve dedicated July to Christmas cardmaking and reaped the benefits in November/December when life always seems to get super busy! I LOVE having a good supply of cards to send to all my friends rather than stress about making them before the posting deadline. Plus I get a chance to use the festive supplies I bought in the after-Christmas sales!

So, for Christmas in July Day 1, I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge which has a beautiful combo (purple, blue and green). It made me smile when I saw the combo because I remember using a very similar combo during LucieG’s Christmas in July 2020! Anyway, to start with, I masked a rectangle and blended some blue distress ink on my card base. Next, I pulled out Penny Black’s ornament branch (51-481)  which I coloured with distress inks.  Finally I added a sentiment from the Penny Black Beauty of The Season stamp set (30-254) and a few sequins to complete my card.

AAA Cards sketch challenge with Critters Twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the sketch below and if you want to join with our optional twist, please add a critter or two!

For the background, I used a fun older cling stamp by Create-A-Smile – this one went AWOL in my craft room for a while but luckily I just found it in an unlabelled box of cling stamps! The Jellyfish and circle dies are by Poppystamps and I added part of a Reverse Confetti sentiment to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Cornelia, who has some fabulous inky inspiration on her blog – go check it out!!

Hope you can play along with us!

CAS Christmas Challenge – snowman

Hi everyone!

The weather has turned a lot over the past few weeks and it’s much chillier and wetter at the moment and I’m getting excited for my annual Christmas in July event! In preparation for that, I decided to play along with the challenge at CAS Christmas. The challenge theme is snowman.

I chose an older die from Create-a-Smile and a sentiment from Mama Elephant.

Christmas Card Throwdown – Perfect Pearls

Hello everyone!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the current stash challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! The challenge theme is ‘perfect pearls’. At first I wondered if this would mean that I would finally use some of my MANY pearl embellishments but it’s actually about Perfect Pearls powder by Ranger.

I’m fortunate have a lot of colours of Perfect Pearls as I found them on sale in a store in the US a few years ago! I don’t use them that often so I was very happy to get them out of the cupboard again!

For my CAS card, I used a new-to-me Christmas Trees stamp set by Darkroom Door and three Perfect Pearls powders. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge!

Christmas in Early May!

Hello everyone!

I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie at any time of the year and today two of my favourite Christmas movies were on TV and I just HAD to make a Christmas card as I watched them! I decided to play along with the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown which has a sketch challenge this week.

After using distress inks for a wintery sky in the top third, I used the fabulous Penny Black Christmas Wonderland tree die (51-562) for the middle section and then hand cut a slope for the bottom third. I hid my less-than-perfect edge with chunky stickles! Finally I added the star die from the Wonderland die set and the baby deer from the Penny Black Together die set (30-258). The stamped sentiment is from one of my favourite stamps from last Christmas – Penny Black Hello Deer (30-775).
