Christmas, New Year and Winter

Retro deck the halls

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, which has quite a retro combos – pink, turquoise, green and black.

I turned to my new die sets from The Greetery. The background was created with the Pine Wisp die set and then I added ornaments from the Curio: Attic Ornaments set. To complete my card, I added a sentiment by Sunny Studios.

Au revoir, AAA Cards!

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards! But before I talk about my card, I wanted to let you know that this is my last challenge for AAA Cards. I was so delighted to be selected to join the DT back in May 2017 and I’m very grateful to Jane and the lovely team who made me feel so welcome. However, after 4.5 fun years, I felt it was time to step down. It has truly been an honour to be part of this talented team. All the very best to Maaike and the DT – I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing inspiration next year!

Back to the last challenge of 2021, which runs for four weeks! This time we’d like you to create a CAS Christmas card with the option of using a slimline card base.

I used a slimline card for my last DT post and wanted to do something different this time, so I chose a standard UK cardbase. I used the gorgeous Santa’s Snowy Hills die from Picket Fence Studios together with a few trees from a Marianne’s Designs set. My inspiration for this card came from the very talented Valerie who created this stunning card.

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Jane D, who has some really cute inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Pink, grey and silver forest

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, which has one of my favourite combos – pink, grey, silver and white.

I used the gorgeous Wispy Trees by The Stamp Market, stamped with distress oxide inks. I added a few strips of silver glitter paper and some silver thread to add some different textures as well as a bit of festive bling! Finally I stamped a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

Bird in a Wreath

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge with Penny Black products.

After smooshing some distress ink onto my card base, I added the Whirl Wreath (51-151) and coloured the berries with a white coloured pencil. I then coloured the bird from the Nestled die set (51-722) using distress inks and nestled him into the wreath! For the other two elements of the sketch, I used the branch from the Peaceful Pines die set (51-705).

Interestingly the sentiment caused me the most problems! Everything I tried seemed to big or too small…. When I was rifling through my older Penny Black sets, I spotted the fabulous word tree in the older Season’s Wishes set (30-201) (it’s from 2013 but still available). I used a couple of post it notes to mask off the sentiment above and below the ‘Season’s Greetings’ part of the tree, and stamped! I really liked how it turned out so I was was pretty pleased to have found that sentiment!

Primary Poinsettia

Hello again everyone!

Next up today is my entry for two challenges –  this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, which has a combo of primary colours this week, and the sketch from the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

To ground my images a little, I started by the pretty Poppystamps Swirly Curl Border outline on my card base. Then I made three blended distress ink panels using ‘dirtier’ shades of the challenge colours (Stormy Sky, Fossilised Amber and Fired Brick) and then cut them with the poinsettia dies from the Spellbinders Christmas Blooms set. I also cut foliage from white glitter card and then adhered them all to my card. I added a few gems for poinsettia centres and a Simon Says Stamp sentiment to complete my card.

AAA Cards Along the edge with snowflakes twist

Hello everyone!

It’s also time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just an edge of your card. Our optional twist is ‘snowflakes’.

I always seem to use blues and purples with white when I make snowflake cards so I’ve changed it up today and have used kraft! All products are by Penny Black – I used the snowflake edger die from the Spirited die set (51-721) – the partial snowflakes on the edger die are replicated in full in the Dancing Snowflakes die (51-708), so I cut them out and added them on top using tiny bits of foam. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the When Snow Falls sentiment set (30-881) before adhering this to my kraft card base.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Jane, who has some sweet inspiration on her instagram feed!

Hope you can play along with us!
