Birthday vase

Hello everyone!

There’s a super sketch for this week’s challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for die cuts and I was itching to pull out my dies again after my wood-mounted stamp challenge!

For my take, I used some old Basic Grey papers with dies from My Favorite Things (vase) and Simply Graphic. The sentiment is also by My Favorite Things.

Once I assembled the card, I felt it needed a little something extra towards the right side of the card so I added a few Nuvo Jewel Drops. They look clear by they are actually translucent grey!

Flower wish

Hello everyone!

Even though we’re now in March (and by the way how did THAT happen?), the Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge continues for two more days, and that means my personal wood stamp challenge also continues!

Today I’m playing along with the challenge over at both the Retro Rubber Challenge blog and the Try Stampin’ On Tuesday blog which have a shared sketch challenge.

I used a stamp from a 2006 Hero Arts set (how can that be 13 years ago?), but when I was creating the card, I felt I needed a way of extending the image to the sentiment. So I drew a stem – quite pleased with how it turned out in the end.

I added some paper pennants cut from Basic Grey and a sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly.

Retro background

Hello friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current Time Out challenge where the theme is ‘retro’.

I had LOTS of ideas for this one, but as I’m using wood mounted stamps this month, I pulled out my old ‘Retro Background’ stamp from Woodware. I stamped it in teal Stazon and then coloured it with rust and grey Twinkling H2Os. Soooo shimmery!

I added a sentiment from a very old (and rather sticky!) clear set to finish off my card.

Sending Spring Birthday Cheer

Happy Sunday everyone!

I pulled out another one of my older Magenta Art Stamps this morning. I’m afraid to say I have never used this one as it was so much bigger than I thought when I ordered it and quite honestly the size scared me! I was concerned about my ability to stamp a decent impression (although Magenta stamps stamp beautifully) and then my ability to colour the image – especially that big leaf!

But this past month focussing on wood-mounted stamps has really renewed my confidence in stamping without the MISTI and I have been practicing my colouring so I decided to give the stamp a whirl! I’m so glad I did!

I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os using the palette from this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge (saffron, yellow and green). I didn’t want too many layers on my card so I embossed a My Favorite Things frame die around the image and adhered a die cut sentiment from Honey Bee (as well as stamping ‘sending’ from a Clearly Besotted set). Finally, I added a few Nuvo Jewel dots to finish off my card.

Et voila! Day 21 colouring done!

Birthday Branches

Hello everyone!

I’m playing along with another new-to-me challenge tonight – the Papercraft Crew challenge. The sketch caught my eye as I thought it would provide a great opportunity for me to combine my colouring for Day 17 of the Daily Marker 30 day challenge with an attempt to use up some of my mountain of patterned paper.

Usually I start with the patterned paper, then choose the colours and stamps, but this time I stamped the pretty ‘A branch of…’ stamp by Penny Black and then coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os – I tried to capture some of the shimmer in my second photo – gotta love those Twinklings!

Anyway, I quickly found some Basic Grey papers that complemented my image and once I had assembled the card, I added My Favorite Things sentiment, a couple of Penny Black butterfly die cuts and a few Nuvo drops to complete my take on the sketch.

Melle Papillion

Bonjour!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge which has the most amazing sketch this week! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use a triangle as a focal point and thought I’d probably end up using a tree. But, as I was going through my wood-mounted stamps I unearthed the sweet ‘Melle Papillon’ stamp from Penny Black. I got it in 2013 and haven’t used it much at all.

Anyway, I coloured the image with my Prismacolor pencils and then cut it out using a triangular die. I then embossed a sentiment from my favourite things and added die cut butterflies from Memory Box and Simon Says Stamp.
