Birthday

Field of poppies

Good morning everyone!

This week, I have the honour of being the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown Challenge.

The palette for this challenge is black, white and peach, Such a fabulous combination, don’t you think?

I decided to use white as an accent colour and created a peach base using Dried Marigold distress ink. I love this soft colour and I’m looking forward to the distress oxide version later this year!

I cut black cardstock using dies from Memory Box and My Favorite Things and cut a Simon Says Stamp sentiment from white glitter card.

When I stuck everything down, I felt that the card needed a little something extra so I added a few white dots to finish it off.

There’s some amazing inspiration from the Color Throwdown DT over on the challenge blog – I do hope you can play along this week!

Starry Seventy

Hello Everyone and happy happy birthday to my dear dad who is celebrating a big birthday today!

My dad prefers super CAS cards so this card took a bit longer than other cards I’ve made him. OK, I must confess, it actually tested my patience a bit – it took a LONG time to arrange and glue down those stars… especially the smallest ones!

The stars are from the Hero Arts star confetti background die – I love background dies but they are pricey and I always like to find as many ways of using them as possible. I love how versatile the Hero Arts confetti dies are – the different sizes of the confetti means that I use them on all sorts of cards and I’ve even used the star die for a Happy 2018 card!

Anyway, I probably used about 70% of the stars from the die on this card. I stuck some to the back and saved the rest for another project.

The greeting is also by Hero Arts.

As I used one of my favourite Hero Arts products (background dies), I’m entering this into the current Blog Named Hero challenge.

Seeing green… and aubergine

Happy Saturday everyone!

I made today’s card for a number of challenges – Freshly Made Sketches, Color Throwdown (green/eggplant/white) and the Memory Box challenge (green), although looking at it now, I think that green isn’t really prominent enough for the latter so I think I will have to try again for that challenge….

I was originally struggling a bit to find  a suitable aubergine colour for the Color Throwdown challenge and then I saw that a DT member had used Seedless Preserves distress ink. Problem solved! I masked off a square and did a bit of ombre ink blending. I cut the Memory Box vine die from a panel I’d created from Hero Arts liquid water colours mixed with perfect pearls – can you see the shimmer?

To finish of the card, I used one of my go-to sentiments from My Sentiments Exactly!

Blow out that bonfire!

Happy Friyay people!

I made today’s card using Jennifer McGuire’s fabulous distress oxide water painting technique – very quick and so much fun!

After stamping/embossing the wonderful candle stamp from Concord & 9th, I blended two shades of green (Lucky Clover and Evergreen Bough) and then ‘painted’ the flames and parts of the candles with water.

I stamped and embossed the Cas-ual Fridays sentiments onto vellum and attached it to the base card to finish it off. Isn’t that sentiment fun?! As the card was for my younger brother, I felt I could give this to him without causing TOO much offence!!!!

I don’t have many Cas-ual Fridays stamps as I’ve found them quite difficult to buy here in the UK, so I’m very happy that I can finally enter one of their challenges as the theme is ‘green’.

Have a great weekend, all!

Yay, yay, yay! Birthday chick

Happy Saturday everyone!

It’s been a little while since I participated in a My Favorite Things challenge so I decided to dive back in and enter both the sketch and colour challenge with this card.

To create the centre panel, I smooshed MFT Berrylicious ink onto watercolour paper. The images are from the MFT Birthday Chicks stamp set – I’m glad I bought the matching dies, they made things MUCH easier (and quicker!).

I coloured the images with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints – the shimmer is amazing in real life – I’ve tried to capture it in my second photo.

I’m also entering this into the current Seize the Birthday challenge (anything goes).

Glittery Spring Birthday

Hi everyone!

For today’s card, I used the gorgeous Memory Box wildflower landscape die which I coloured with distress inks and Nuvo markers. I added a sentiment from Lawn Fawn and to finish off the card, I applied lots of stickles…. maybe too much, but then again can you ever have too much glitter?

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (Anything Goes) and the Seize the Birthday challenge (also Anything Goes).
