Best Witches!

Hello everyone!

It’s been a few weeks since I have crafted. I’ve been busy with various projects in the garden that need to get done before winter arrives and I also lost my crafty mojo. But this morning, I suddenly realised that tomorrow is Halloween and I haven’t made a single card…. and I have SO MANY beautiful Halloween stamps and dies!! Very poor show, LucieG!

So I got myself to my craft table (which was still a mess from the last time I crafted!) and pulled out some stamps sent to me by Penny Black.

The main image is from a mini set called Sweet Witch (30-597) – I rarely use people stamps these days but when I saw this stamp, I knew I wanted to create with her – such a sweet witch and of course I adore her pumpkin owl!

For the background, I cut an oval from some masking paper and added a circle mask. I then blended various colours of Distress Oxide ink (Antique Linen, Salty Ocean, Unchartered Mariner, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot). Usually I like to have more purple in my Halloween skies but as I wanted to use purple for my Sweet Witch, I decided to stick with blues. Once I finished the blending, I removed the masks and coloured in my moon using regular distress inks and a bit of water.

I coloured the Sweet Witch with my Twinkling H2Os and the carefully fussy cut around the image. I usually cut before colouring and I was so nervous that I was going to cut through her!

After adhering her to my card base with foam tape, I added a sentiment from the Sugared mini stamp set (30-597).

A Mustard Sunflower

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using the fab colour combo from this week’s Color Throwdown challenge.

I chose some Stampin Up paper from my patterned paper mountain and added a flower and leaves from The Greetery’s Sunflower Botanicuts die set, which I cut from some panels I’d made from distress spray stains some time ago. You would not believe how long I spent playing with the position of the leaves!! Anyway, I still felt it needed a little something extra so I added some Memory Box stems cut from vellum.

Finally I added a Hero Arts sentiment.

Corn Harvest Basket

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

When I saw the sketch, I thought about the Basket Builder set (30-856) as I thought a basket would work perfectly with the sketch. I stamped the basket and corn images, coloured them and then cut them with the coordinating dies (51-715).

Now for the circle element…. As I mentioned yesterday, I’m on a mission to reduce my dependency on blue/aqua backgrounds. Fortunately this morning, the was the most amazing sunrise, the sky was stunning, dominated by pinks and oranges – and that served as my inspiration! I blended some distress ink across my card base and then cut a circle from a separate piece of card using a die from the Stitched Circles set (51-551) before adhering it to my card base. I then added my corn basket and a few die cut wheatsheaves from the Autumn Decor set (51-653).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from the Autumn is Calling set (30-863). The sentiment is actually much bigger and says ‘Have a lovely Fall filled with Blessings) so I just stamped the first part as I felt that would tie in well with the sentiment strip in the sketch.

My Favourite colour is Autumn

Hello everyone!

Happy October! Today I’m playing along in the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch challenge using products kindly sent to my by Penny Black.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought of the fabulous Fall Wreath die set (51-479)! For this card, I cut some brown shimmery card plus an old ink blended panel and adhered the leaves from the blended die cut onto the brown die cut. I added a few of the smaller leaves from the die set.

I sponged some distress ink on my card base, splattered some water and lifted some of the ink. I felt the result was a little stark so once the card had dried, I added a very light layer of ink on top. I adhered the die cuts to my card base.

Finally, I added a sentiment from the So Thankful set (30-932) and some sequins to complete my card.

Happy Autumn Season

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Just Add Ink ‘choose two’ challenge.

The weather has definitely turned in my part of the word and leaves have started to turn. I love the time when the leaves are brightly coloured and the skies are blue… unlike today – it’s pouring at the moment!

Anyway, it should come as no surprise that I chose foliage… and I also decided on the masking option.

I used products kindly sent to me by Penny Black for my CAS take on the challenge. First of all, I cut some acetate with the Slimline Zig-Zag (51-733) die and used it as a mask for my three squares. Then I found an old inky background that I made MANY years ago and cut it with the Fall Foliage dies (51-655). I cut the stems from some mirror card and adhered everything to my card base. Finally I added a sentiment from the Always Thankful set (30-932)….. I actually messed up this stamping when I did it originally so I just adhered a strip of card on top to hide it!

Pumpkin Owl

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the colour challenge at the Just Us Girls challenge using products sent to me by Penny Black. The colour palette is rather autumnal – orange, green and brown.

I decided to use one of the fun images from the Owlsome stamp set (30-718) – is he a pumpkin decorated as an owl or an owl dressed as a pumpkin?! I think the former but either way he is so much fun! I embossed the image and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints before I fussy cut it. I added some stickles and pearls plus a bit of a wink of Stella to his eyes… sadly you can’t see much of the shimmer in my photos, but his eyes sparkle in real life!

For the background, I used one of the new dies from the Fall 2022 release – Fall Fern (51-756) and coloured it with my Twinklings – I love how the leaves match the pumpkin owl’s wings!

After adding some paint splatters, I adhered everything to my card base and added the sentiment from the Pumpkin Stack mini stamp set (30-855).
