Leaf Bliss

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

The combo this week is mustard, orange, navy and aqua -perfect for autumnal cards.

I created an inky panel using Mustard Seed, Spiced Marigold and Crackling Campfire distress inks and then die cut it with the new Leaves Turn die set (51-788). These leaves are big so you don’t need many of them to make a statement! I created another panel from Salvaged Patina distress oxide ink and die cut that several times with the Winter’s Best berry stem die (51-791).

I heat embossed a beautiful sentiment from the Always Thankful set (30-932) – and managed to get spots of white embossing powder everywhere, despite using antistatic powder…

I then arranged all my die cuts – this always takes a bit longer than I expect, but I got there in the end!

Ghost Kitty Wishes

Hi there!

After  very hot weekend, I was finally able to craft in the late afternoon – sneaking in here just in time with my entry this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I stamped and embossed the cute kitty ghost from the Ghostly Greetings (30-594) set and added a touch of shimmer using my Twinkling H2O paints – so difficult to capture in a photo! I then used masking paper to mask him and a small circle before creating a Halloween sky with my distress oxide. I really wanted to create a luminescence around the moon and kitty image so I used a VERY  light hand. This took a while to get right – I felt my first attempt (below) was a bit heavy!

I couldn’t believe that I don’t seem to have a Halloween strip sentiment in any of my Penny Black sets!! But that’s not a problem, because I have a few of the versatile  ‘builder’ stamp sets and I was able to create this sentiment from the Happy Builder mini stamp set (30-973).

My first attempt at this card – using a sentiment from the Sugared mini set (30-723):

Autumn Brolly

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the challenge at the Four Seasons challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black, including a stamp set from their wonderful brand new release, Autumn Gala.

I absolutely love the autumn umbrella in the Fall Breeze set (31-010) – such a clever idea. This was so much fun to colour with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints! I fussy cut the image and adhered it to my card base which I had stamped lightly with the Brick Wall cling stamp (40-137). I added a few leaves from the Pumpkin Parade die set (51-754) and the green squiggles are from the Pumpkin and Leaves set (51-360).

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from  set and a few sequins.

Color Throwdown Artsy Leaves

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has a colourful combo of green, yellow, red and white.

I managed to pick up the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Artsy Leaves die set last weekend – they arrived quickly and I have been looking forward to using a few of them – today was the day!

I cut them from some Craft Consortium paper and white glitter card before adhering them to my card base that I’d also covered with patterned paper.

The sentiment is by Penny Black.

Harvest of Happiness

Happy Sunday everyone!

The weather is starting to turn more wintery here – there’s more of a chill in the air and leaves are dropping like crazy. The crisp sunny days are being replaced by cloud and rain. But I still want to make pretty autumn cards! I think we can still embrace the joys of autumn until the end of the month, don’t you?

So in celebration of all things autumn, here’s a card I made with stamps and dies kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

First of all, to ground my autumn scene, I created my background using a small gel plate and aqua colour burst/shimmer powder. Then I cut images from the Pumpkin Parade dies set (51-754) and coloured them using distress inks.

After arranging my little scene, I stamped a sentiment from the Always Thankful set (30-932) to complete my card.

Inspired by Pyracantha

Hello everyone!

It’s been a few weeks since I crafted. Life has been pretty busy and I’ve had lots of boring chores to tend to. And when I had some downtime for crafting. my mojo went AWOL. But, as is so often the case, today’s beautiful inspiration pic for the Color Throwdown challenge made me want to hit the craft table. I’m using stamps and dies kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

The palette of brown, yellow, red and orange made me think of my beautiful pyracantha! I had been wanting to use the fabulous bold berry die from the Winter Stems die set (51-751) for a while so I got to work. I cut the berry branches from brown card and glitter card. I felt the red and orange were a little too close when I was arranging them so substitued the red glitter card for satin mirror card – I quite like the mix of textures that it provides, do you?

Anyway. after spending a rather long amount of time arranging the berries on the branches, I put them to one side and blended some brown distress inks on my card base to ground my arrangement. I then adhered the branches and added a fabulous bow from the Jumble Bauble die set (51-743). I stamped a sentiment from the AlwaysThankful set (30-932) and added a few sequins to complete my card.
