Happy Saturday!!
The stunning Yoshino cherry trees at the Tidal Basin reached peak bloom on Thursday. I was lucky enough to visit for peak bloom back in 2017 and although it was an unusual season, it was still absolutely breathtaking. The blossoms are actually white at peak bloom and then they start to change colour – David Coleman has an interesting post here.
I picked up the Pinkfresh Studio Cherry Blossom die and stencil set last year and I’ve been waiting for now to use them! There’s very little colour on the blooms, just a touch of pink on the buds. This set also has a fabulous collection of leaves which I didn’t include as the Yoshinos don’t have leaves at peak bloom. Instead I coloured the parts of the branch that are intended for the leaves so that they would appear like buds.
I also used the Blanket Stitch ovals dies to create the frame and a sentiment from the Humbled and Grateful set.
I’m entering this into the current Pinkfresh Studio monthly challenge which has a theme of ‘So much Fun’.
Thanks for stopping by!
